Default Texan offense officially top 10

Whelp, the offensive points/game has been lagging the yards/game all season but with today's victory over the Bengals, the Texans are now averaging 25.0 pts/game good for 10th in the NFL.

Other Offensive stats:

371.6 avg. yds/game (4th)

32:55 Time of possession (4th)

22.7 1st downs/game (tie for 1st with Arizona)

48% conversions on 3rd down (tie for 1st with Dallas)

50% conversions on 4th down (tie for 15th with many)

23 offensive penalties (2nd, Pats are 1st with 22)

174 total penalty yards (1st)

118.4 yds rushing/game (11th)

253.1 yds passing/game (5th)

--------------------

Also, Schaub's total QB rating almost improved 10 pts after today's 144 rating going from 83.7 to 92.6 (9th in the NFL).

Of course, the defensive stats are a different story.....

The two biggest stats I wanted to see improve this year are 3rd down conversion and time of possession. Now if we can crack the top 5 in the ground game then I know we are going in the direction I care about.

BTW, Jags, Broncos and Cowboys suck.

Andre Johnson is second in the AFC, behind Tomlinson in total yards from scrimmage. 3rd leading receiver. And.......(drum roll), Andre is FIRST in total yards for receivers with 629!!!

NBT I don't know where you are getting your stats but after yesterday's game, Johnson has 772 yards and 56 catches, leading in both categories respectively. Use NFL.com they update thier stats quicker.

And the best offense in the AFC South is...the Texans, 10th in scoring offense with 25 ppg. The best QB statistically is Matt Schaub with a QB rating of 92.6, Peyton Manning has a rating of 79.

Over the last three weeks Schaub has thrown for 926 yards rushed for 1 td and thrown for 6 more with 2 interceptions...playing some terrible defenses I know.

But we are in the groove now, with some confidence and some swagger and we really should be 5-2. So sad but the Vikings although dangerous are a fairly good opponent for us now.

Theyre 19 in points allowed per game and we are a top 10 O. Then again theyre 15 in ppg and we are 26 in D.

Theyve allowed 3 punt returns for TDs, us none.

Yeah you are right, I was quoting from the last Wednesdays Chronic. Anyway good for AJ. He is the best WR in the NFL right now.

So how much of the credit for this goes to Shanahan?

While I agree that Kubiak should get most of the credit for the offense's improvement this year, I'm not so sure Gibbs should be getting more than Shanahan at this point. I mean, the guy is primarily responsible for the offensive line and the running game. The running game hasn't been gang-busters this year, and that's with a promising, quick rookie that we didn't have last year. Pass blocking has improved, but not dramatically, I would say. I think the reduction in sacks over the last few weeks can be attributed to play calls that get the ball out of the quarterbacks hands faster more than anything. That's not to say Gibbs is doing a good job, but the biggest reason this offense is succeeding is the passing game. I'd be very curious to find out how much freedom Kyle is given as far as playcalling/game-planning goes.
