Mike sort of alluded to it in his post... Walker is not much of a special teams contributor, and with Andre Davis out for a couple weeks, do you trust Jacoby Jones to handle all of the return duties by himself?

Without Moats, I think David Anderson might also help with returns, but he is nothing special as a kick returner. I'm not sure Moats is anything special either (4 kick returns as a pro, and none noteworthy that I know of), but the coaches have confidence in him to do it whereas they didn't see much specials teams work out of Walker.

Walker is what he is. He shows flashes of talent, but if he ever got any significant time at RB, you'd always be yearning to upgrade. RBs like him are a dime a dozen. That roster spot is better off going to a SPT daemon.

Speaking of RBs, I know Benson isn't popular and has certainly had his problems and under-performed, but I'm still miffed at why we didn't bring him in for a look.

I know we have Slaton and I like him a lot. But there was/is no guarantee he's going to succeed and we all know Green's time will be coming to an end soon. Even if Slaton does become great, shouldn't this team be looking at young talent and upgrading anywhere they can? At least for depth?

I don't get it, and honestly, it bothers me that they don't even bring players like this in for a look. All I'm asking is for them to take a look. They should bring in Chad Jackson for a look. Maybe they sign, maybe they don't. What's it hurt? It may pay off (Andre Davis). It almost seems Smith and Kubiak are cocky in a sense that they think this team is better than it is.

Ced is a big old pile of B-U-S-T. He is not even a young version of Ron Dayne. He is not popular, has a questionable and history and has underperformed. Those are three strikes and you are out. I think you answered your own question, he is just not a good NFL player. It happens. See Carr, David, Harrington, Joseph.....

My point is, they should still bring these guys in for a look. You never know, you might hit gold. This roster isn't so deep to justify not even taking a look. As for some of these players, sometimes humiliation wakes a young guy up and a change is good. I went through it myself in my younger days. Time will tell with Benson. IMO, it's way too early to write him off and he didn't anything a milion other young people do - let alone young people with money and time on their hands.

I think the Texans have shown in the past, that they are not shy about bringing prospects in for a look-see. The fact they haven't done it much this year could be construed as a good thing because the roster has fewer glaring spots to have to be filled.

I dont understand why the team would bring in a player that they know will never land on the team, because of off the field issues.

I would never bring in a person to interview that I knew had no chance of getting hired just to say I did. My time is better spent posting here than interviewing candidates that know less about IT than 90% of my users.

Granted one scenario is based on ability and the other on personality, but the difference is not that great in this case. This team, from top to bottom, has no intent to add suspect players who cannot stay off a police blotter no matter what their ability is. I would even go so far as to say that they have no intent of signing players with inflated ego's who like to make big productions and flap their lips at the media. (That is a C Johnson and TO reference btw)

Not if you've seen enough of them on film. And Benson's got enough film out there showing his ability level.

Combined with all his other negatives, I think a team would have to be pretty desperate to bring him in even for a look-see, as you're also sending a message by bringing in a guy with those character issues. There's a reason he wasn't even getting tryouts until the Bengals who were the perfect storm for him with the combination of not caring about character and the horrific season so far for Chris Perry.

Benson is not worth the baggage he brings with him.
