My point is, they should still bring these guys in for a look. You never know, you might hit gold. This roster isn't so deep to justify not even taking a look. As for some of these players, sometimes humiliation wakes a young guy up and a change is good. I went through it myself in my younger days. Time will tell with Benson. IMO, it's way too early to write him off and he didn't anything a milion other young people do - let alone young people with money and time on their hands.

I think the Texans have shown in the past, that they are not shy about bringing prospects in for a look-see. The fact they haven't done it much this year could be construed as a good thing because the roster has fewer glaring spots to have to be filled.

I dont understand why the team would bring in a player that they know will never land on the team, because of off the field issues.

I would never bring in a person to interview that I knew had no chance of getting hired just to say I did. My time is better spent posting here than interviewing candidates that know less about IT than 90% of my users.

Granted one scenario is based on ability and the other on personality, but the difference is not that great in this case. This team, from top to bottom, has no intent to add suspect players who cannot stay off a police blotter no matter what their ability is. I would even go so far as to say that they have no intent of signing players with inflated ego's who like to make big productions and flap their lips at the media. (That is a C Johnson and TO reference btw)

Good point Krav.

Also, if you sign him, then you have to let go of someone else. I think the big audition is what they saw of him on film, and I am not sure they were impressed.

Not if you've seen enough of them on film. And Benson's got enough film out there showing his ability level.

Combined with all his other negatives, I think a team would have to be pretty desperate to bring him in even for a look-see, as you're also sending a message by bringing in a guy with those character issues. There's a reason he wasn't even getting tryouts until the Bengals who were the perfect storm for him with the combination of not caring about character and the horrific season so far for Chris Perry.

Benson is not worth the baggage he brings with him.

i didn't think we were past the point of not needing to look at all options when the benson bit came around...but i'm glad they didn't.

Moates had a nice little run there towards the end of the Bengals game. He might not be a bad back to keep around as Slaton's backup whenever Green inevitably goes down for the season.

Green is just so obviously running out his string, doing only just enough to make them want to keep him around another week.

Didn't Green reportedly suffer a thigh bruise last week...or did I just assume that he has to be hurt by now?

I was going to say that I hope that Walker and Taylor stayed in town, but I just noticed we signed DD Terry to the practice squad. 6'1" 190 lbs. 1st year from Sam Houston....that all I know.
