Teapot did tell us he had some pretty eff'in good eff'in quarterbacks...
OL depth is an issue, and the team sure missed the nose for the goalline that Arian Foster possesses. Kevin Johnson will be a good CB, and it's not like he had a poor game, but he's definitely a rookie. McKinney is lost in coverage. Hopefully RAC subs him out when the games count. After Hop, the WRs aren't dazzlers, but there's depth there. I hope I see something I like more from Rahim Moore. Was a little concerned about Mallett's health after the late hit and after he didn't immediately return to the sideline in the 3rd quarter. Mike Mohammed was slow getting up after making a solid play... just want these guys avoiding injury. Complaining about Preseason Week 1 playcalling is a waste of life, but the QB keeper when you need 4 yards is a headscratcher. BOB must be playing mind games with Andy Reid already. |

The QB sneak was weird. If you sneak on 3rd and 4 part of the reason is because you are going for it if you get half the yards. Then they punt on 4th and a foot at midfield.
Blue has great versatility (runs it, catches it, blocks ok, plays ST). His versatility does not include short yardage. He was bad there last year and is still bad. Getting into the stadium was brutal. I was less than a mile away at 6:20 and I sat down past 7:30. And the NFL wonders why people want to watch on TV instead of going to the games? If the tickets weren't free I would have been very upset. |

The worst games for getting in the stadium every season are the preseason games. Always. Season ticket holders ditch their tickets to fans who aren't as familiar with how to get into the stadium. As I sat on 610 exiting Kirby, I saw cars all around me trying to take the same exit that had no business exiting Kirby. I always assume fans would get there earlier on Saturdays for tailgating reducing the amount of traffic an hour before kickoff, but I guess not. Maybe too hot to tailgate in mid-August?

Might be a little premature, but I saw enough good things from Savage to say he can (at least) be the future #2. For example, one of Hoyer/Mallett can be dropped next year and the Texan can go back to carrying just two QB's with maybe a project on the PS. Just keep the Hoyer/Mallett "survivor" of 2015 plus Savage for next year....
Mallett wasn't able to get on the scoreboard but 10/11 passing makes for a good argument against his "inconsistencies". The 7 runs on the goalline with no success was a bit of a headscratcher.... I dunno, maybe after about the 5th attempt, fake the run and throw a short pass next time? A lot of very good prospects among the new guys but many are going to be cut because there just isn't any room for them.... |
