JJ fields the punt and loses 2. Texans ball at their 37. 1:50 left in the game.
--------------- Screen to Foster gets 11. Schaub is sacked. Flag on the play. Facemask on Texans is declined. 2nd and 19 coming up. 1:22 left. Play is under review, cause whoa, Raiders had too many men on the field... Erases the sack but the facemask penalty is enforced. Long story short, it is 1st and 25 for the Texans at their 33. Pass to KW gets 27 and a 1st down. Pass to JJ comes up short but roughing the passer gives the Texans +15. Ball at the Raider 26 with 54 seconds left. Bad snap loses 13. Pass to Foster goes inc. 29 seconds left on 3rd and 23. Last edited by Arky; 10-09-2011 at 03:34 PM. |

Ball is caught at the 5 by Dreessen!
Schaub spikes it with 7 seconds left! OMG, Schaub throws the INT in the endzone. Game over. Damn. Final score: Raiders 25, Texans 20 |

Ugly, ugly loss. Didn't like the play call at the end at all. You can run a fade first and then the same play on second down.

You were playing against a team whose dead owners words were "just win baby". It would have taken out best erffort to win today and obviously we didn't get it.

The Raiders defensive line played outstanding. They were putting a mean rush on us all game long. Tipped passes and QB pressures had Matt Schaub really antsy all game long.... Congrats to the Raiders organization for a great victory in memory of Al Davis... Only reason I'm not raging is because all AFC South teams lost.

I don't care if they were playing for their momma. We lost one we shoulda won! Schaub proved that you give him a little rush and he will give the ball up. JJ played the worst game of his career. I know he blows hot and cold sometimes, but he was iced today. Not worthy of being the #1 option while AJ is out. The TEs tried to carry the load, but only proved it takes a proven pro WR like AJ to get the defense out of their gameplan. At the end with a chance to salt this one away, Schaub proved he gets rattled under pressure, and JJ on that last play was fronting the defender Michael Huff, but inexplicably at the last second chose to go behind the defender making it impossible for Schub to get it to him, making it easy for Huff to make the int and salt the win for 'ol "just win baby" Davis. Both Kubiak and Wade Phillips were unable to adjust yet again to what the other team was doing all game long on defense. They also made journeyman QB Jason Camkpbell look like an all-pro. Altogether a sucky effort by the Texans in their own playpen. Inexcusable!

Campbell hardly looked like an all-pro. He didn't get his offense a first down until just before half time. He completed 15/35 passes. He had under 200 yards passing. And they shut down McFadden at the same time, holding the NFL's leading rusher to 51 yards. And about not making adjustments, if you take out the fake punt, they allowed THREE YARDS on four 4th quarter Raiders possessions. How else do you think our sputtering offense and inept special teams had a chance to win in the end. the Raiders went backwards on their last two possessions, and the defense even saved us some time when the Raiders threw the ball deep for some reason on 2nd down. And the safety and CB blitzes were a great adjustment and helped get a 3rd down stop in the 4th quarter (the raiders were 3/15 on 3rd down for the day). Great game defense, and sorry we wasted it. |

WOW.....
Am I wrong in assuming that he could've just ran that in... Why not throw the ball out the back of the end-zone when he noticed Foster covered out the backfield... Why was Shaub trying to make Jacoby the star of this game... I can only assume that the offense loves this last minute crap... |

It is unfathomable to me why Schaub didn't run it in.
It's also unfathomable to me how Schaub, the OL, and Jacoby Jones had SUCH AWFUL games. It's also unfathomable to me how we keep getting injuries to critically important players. Come back soon, Andre and Mario. |

If there were any questions about where Shaub should be on the best QBs list, I hope today has answered them for you.
Shaub has all the tools to be considered a great QB, EXCEPT the mentality of a winner. Name any other top 5 QB in the same situation who would not have won this game on that last play. |

You are crazy if you think Schaub could have run that in. I don't think he would have crossed the 3. An incomplete pass there ends the game. So does getting tackled. So I am really not down on the INT. I do think it is a bad play call. Run a fade first to make sure you get 2 cracks, not a play that eats up all :07.
And this loss is squarely on the OL (with an assist from the play calling combo of Kubiak and Dennison). They got killed in the run game and in the pass game. The 51 called passes and ONE 4th quarter run did not help. Schaub played ok considering the circumstances. No run game. No pass protection. No receiver who could get downfield and the Raiders squatting on short routes. And with all that he comes up with over 400 yards. His options were so limited he completed over 100 yards in passes to Dreesen. I definitely don't put it on him. We are simply not built to play without AJ. He is irreplaceable. Nobody else stretches the defense and we become a horizontal passing game. Jacoby Jones runs terrible routes (watch how often he is coming out of a break and the ball is a good 5 yards away because he rounded out of the route instead of being sharp). He also has no ball skills (kind of a need for a big play guy). |

We had it right there for the taking, and whiffed on the opportunity.
OK so we are basically sitting at 3-3 (unless you think we go into Baltimore next week and beat the Ravens), as we travel to Nashville 2 weeks from today to play the team that looks to be our principal competition for the AFC South this year. That will be our biggest game to that date. |
