Guys like Eugene Wilson, Rashad Butler, and Jason Bell if you go way back might qualify as players signed/claimed for keeps after camp was over. I get both points though. Why bother with the hassle to sign a guy this late if he's likely gonna be cut anyway? I think because Gordon has a chance of not getting cut. With Dunta predictable rusty and Reeves out for week 1, that last bubble spot on the final 53 could go to an extra corner. I'm guessing Gordon ought to play a decent amount against the Bucs (though I think Bennett, Molden, Quin, and McCain need all the reps they can get), and his old team must have seen something in him at some point to tender him what they did. As for playing O'Neal or signing Law, well... I'm guessing this has something to say about what Rick Smith thinks of them in the year 2009. |

Watching the waiver wire during the cut downs is a different animal. And during the season you can find gems.

Now that was a real "Flash", as in Gordon is gone before he could unpack his bags? Or did he ever even show up?

That was fast.
All i can think is he had some conditioning/attitude issues, hence the reasons the Chargers let go of him, or the recent comments about Reeves making a possible Game 1 appearance are more than enthusiasm. It could also mean there has been some communication with DRob and he will appear within the next day or so. It is also possible that he was just a camp body, but it seems very very odd. |

or maybe this is a way to help him find another team more quickly since he fairly obviously wasn't one of our top 7 choices for CB.

That would be very Texan-like. I think they have done that for a few guys over the last couple of years. For the most part, Dunta's ordeal aside, it seems like they are a standup group of coaches/managers, and that can only help us with FA's as the churn of players continues. Guys talk, and if you got the cash (which McNair does), and folks are treated fairly, then we will be considered by some good ones.
