Default Official Texans vs. Raiders Game Thread, 10/04/2009

Breast Cancer Awareness Day today, and Moats Mother-In-Law. Looks like several guys wearing pink cleats today for this awareness today, which is a noble cause for sure.

Looking for some D today.

A noble cause to be sure. As someone who's wife is a breast-cancer survivor I certainly support your remarks there, Nconroe.
To the game - for the first time all year I'm reasonably confidant we are going to win. Or maybe it's just more a case of if we don't win our season is pretty much down the drain so far as making the playoffs go. The really pressure-packed, most challenging games should start next week on the road, if we win today.
There's still a chance at making the playoffs and this is another home game against the weakest opponent so far - shouldn't be a problem, and if it is then all the hopes and expectations of getting into the playoffs this year were in vain anyway.

I'm starting McFadden and Slaton in my fantasy football league today, so I would imagine both will be held in check. Therefore, it will most likely come down to Schaub vs. Russell. Andre Johnson was his work cut out for him going up against the top CB in the NFL. Owen Daniels and Kevin Walters have to come through big today.

Please, let Duane Brown have the good fortune of being able to block Richard Seymour.

Gametime!

Texans receive the opening kick and bring it back to the Texan 36.

Slaton for no gain.

Slaton for 11.

Slaton for about 3. Ball at midfield.

Pass deep to AJ goes inc. but flag on the play. Holding against Raiders 5 yards/auto 1st down.

Pass to OD goes inc.

Slaton no gain. 3rd and 10 coming up.

Schaub sacked near midfield so Texans to punt.

I'm liking what the offense is doing to start. 2 Runs to Slaton and a Rollout. Owen dropped a big gainer. Blaming Schaub for being too high. Slaton for no gain.

Ellis sacked Schaub as he steps up in the pocket. Winston was blocking his back side but Ellis went front side.

The o-line is going to have their hands full.

Now, we get to see the guy Jason Whitlock calls "Ja-off-the-Marcus".

Barber misses tackle for loss on Murphy and gives up 3 yards. Antonio Smith gets his TFL on McFadden.

Amobi Okoye gets pressure up the middle forcing Russell out of the pocket. Russell escapes and completes a short pass for 8 yards, but they still have to punt.

Good D

Deep pass to a wide open AJ goes all the way to inside the Raider 10.

Raiders have 8 men in the box on 2nd and 10, so we Play Action and hit a bomb to wide open Andre Johnson. YEAH

Texans can't capitalize on the long pass to AJ. Come away with three.

RedZone offense.....
Hand off to Slaton - no gain.
2nd down....
Pump, Pump, Pump, throw out of bounds nobody was open.
3rd down....
Trips left empty backfield, Ricky Brown deflects pass intended for Daniels

Kickin' the FG at the 8 yard line.

S. Cody gets the start next to Okoye. Quin and Pollard starting today too.

K Brown squibs the kickoff and AD corrals the returner at the Raider 14.

McFadden for 2.

Amobi with a sack at the 10! Welcome back!

Bush for 1.

Raiders to punt.

Mario stops the run away from his side by chasing McFadden down from behind for a 2 yard gain. Okoye gets into the backfield again for a SACK this time. Cody tied up the C and LG.
