Default Ode Burrell

For those who remember the old AFL Houston Oilers, an obit to report:

GAUTIER, Miss. (AP) — Ode Burrell Jr., who played football at Mississippi State and with the AFL's Houston Oilers in the 1960s, has died. He was 69.

Burrell died Saturday night. He had suffered from complications from diabetes, his son Jack told The Sun Herald of Biloxi, Miss.

Burrell played six seasons with the Oilers. He played in the AFL All-Star Game in 1965. He finished his pro career in 1969 with 1,088 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He also had 112 receptions for 1,379 yards and nine TDs.

Burrell coached high school and junior college football after his playing days.

I remember him. May he R.I.P. Seems like he was in the same backfield with Charlie Tolar.

I saw in the Chronic the other day where Jerry Fowler also passed away. Jerry was a part time guard from that period...
