Interesting. I think the release of Nall means that Kubiak is comfortable with Schaub's health, a good sign.
David Pittman was a third round pick of the Ravens in 2006. Didn't make the cut out of camp this season. Louisiana native, spent about a month with the Saints before coming here. Small school guy that went to the Senior Bowl... maybe Roy remembers him better than me? http://www.houstontexans.com/news/St...?story_id=5025 http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...t/6170486.html They've also added WR Darnell Jenkins to the active roster, I suppose so he can eventually take Molden's place on special teams. CB A.J. Davis takes his spot on the practice squad. I remember Davis catching my eye a bit in college. He went to N.C. State, which is apparently the region of our college scouting department's backyard. Davis was a 4th rounder in 2007, bounced around a bunch since then. |

I wonder if this also makes Kubiak satisfied with 7th round draft pick Alex Brinks as a backup to Schaub and Sage? Maybe we won't draft a QB in the upcoming draft after all?

As for the draft, if they take someone, I think it is someone they expect to groom as a backup to Schaub at this point. I think the Texans are pretty satisfied with Schaub right now, and if they had to exercise the option today (which they won't have to for another 13 or so months from now), they would imo. That all being said, I would be surprised if the Texans selected another QB in the draft before the sixth round next year. If they want another #2 to replace Rosenfels (assuming he isn't re-signed), then I think the Texans find a UFA for the role, not a rookie. Is Quinn Gray still available? ![]() |

I seem to remember the Football Outsiders game-charting project reflecting well upon Pittman's performance last year, but with the caveat of a small sample size. Then again, given the poor quality of the CBs the Ravens kept for their nickel and dime packages and cut Pittman, maybe it was just small sample size creeping in.
