The 5-3 Texans head up to Denver this Sunday to take on the 3-5 Broncos. The Texans are coming off a 42-23 home win over the Dolphins on TNF (and extra rest), the Broncos are coming off a 30-23 road loss to the Chiefs.
Denver's record might be a little deceiving as they have three close losses to the Chiefs (twice) and Rams. Says Jeff Legwold of ESPN, ".....but they continue to hurt themselves with penalties, turnovers, assignment errors and stubbornness on offense. The Broncos profess to be better than their record, but the more they get beat because of their own mistakes, the more difficult it is for anyone to believe that." The Texans are 2-4 all time vs. the Broncos, 1-3 @ Denver. -------------------------------------------------------- TV = CBS (channel 11 local), 3:05 pm CST, Sunday, Nov 4, 2018 Announcers = Tom McCarthy, Steve Beuerlein The line = Pickem to Broncos by 1 -------------------------------------------------------- Other Sunday viewing in the Houston area: FOX (early) = Atlanta @ Washington, Kevin Burkhardt, Charles Davis FOX (late) = LA Rams @ New Orleans, Joe Buck, Troy Aikman -------------------------------------------------------- Prime time: TNF = Oakland @ San Francisco (FOX/NFLN) SNF = Green Bay @ New England (NBC) MNF = Tennessee @ Dallas (ESPN) |

Usually it's a nice change of pace for the Texans to play in the late game but not this week because the Rams are playing the Saints late and that's the best game of the week, well second best after the Texans game of course.
Surprised it's not blacked out here in Houston with the Texans also playing late but I may need to record that game, and I think the Rams will be unbeaten no more after this weekend. The Saints are really good and with that game in NOLA, I don't see LA winning there as the visiting team in front of a stadium full of real NFL fans. |

In Houston, we are stuck with ATL vs. WAS for the early game. Would have much rather watched PIT vs. BAL or even KC vs. CLE (which should have entertainment value) but both of those are on CBS and it is a FOX double header Sunday..... ------------------------------ Texans really should beat the Broncos. Texans teams of the past would have had a let down in this situation.... We'll see if these guys are any different... |

Damn Arky looks like you had a ghost Board along with you today.
6-3 with the division lead seems like it should attract a couple fans/comments, that's not chopped liver, is it ? Two weeks 'till the next game with the bye to lay around and lick our wounds, and we do have some injured players including starters. Now we are all Dallas fans with the Titans playing them on MNF tomorrow night. |

Quiet when there are fewer things to complain about usually. Site traffic is always higher midseason when the wheel start falling off.
This is at least the third game this year where the Texans faced a head coach who made more questionable game decisions than Bill O'Brien, which is not easy to do. Vance Joseph botched the final minutes of the first half, almost gifting a field goal to the Texans. Then to close the game, after Case Keenum miraculously converts a 4th down, Joseph turtles to set up a failed 51-yd field goal attempt when there was opportunity to move closer. Lip readers after contend O'Brien said "Good job Vance, you dumbf**k." Combined with the Colts going for it in OT, and the Cowboys not going for it... has the head coach who punted down 14 with 4 minutes to play in New England outsmarted this many other head coaches? Apparently so. Demaryius Thomas was the other interesting footnote to this game. And no, I'm not referring to how O'Brien (wisely) involved him very early in the game. I was instead amazed to see Thomas *sprinting* off the field the moment after the missed field goal. I mean, his team just won, and all his former teammates and coaches are literally steps away on the other sideline. Thomas said after that he was overcome with emotion, but on more than one occasion he also said postgame that the Texans were not ones to point fingers, which seems like a less-than-veiled comment about his former team. Hmm...? |

Haven't watched the tape, yet but I did see OB let loose with a couple of "f**ks" after they hit the freebie FG at halftime and he's starting the run towards the locker room. Not talking to anyone in particular.... he was just pumped and let his mouth go.... There's is something about this team... While I think OB is like light years from offensive guru/genius territory, the players themselves seem to have a sense of "team" and teamwork. And it shows. They are united in a way that is about as good as a fan could expect.... From the vets to the young guys and newcomers, everyone seems eager to contribute.... |

Thomas plainly does not replace Fuller's skill set, but once he figures out where to line up it looks like he will be a very useful addition to the offense. They obviously need to get him the ball in space, close to the los if need be, give the guy a chance to run. Again, not a replacement, but a solid addition. He's boycotting the NFL. (Seriously.) I thought that would have been obvious to everyone by now. |

This was a solid win for the Texans. Right, it's not a lucky win because the Broncos missed the three-pointer in the last play of the game - hey 50 yard FGs are not gimmes, and if you doubt that then just ask our kicker who missed a PAT yesterday.
And Denver at elevation is real or imagined a tougher place to play for sea-level teams like the Texans so the Broncos always kinda have a built-in advantage against the opposition at their home stadium/altitude. Hey they practice in it, they live in that elevation 24/7. |

In the NFL lucky wins turn into plain old wins about 24 hours later. It's a results league and all that matters is your record. The Texans head into the bye off a 6 game winning streak with constant improvement. Yesterday was ugly but it was a road win over a real opponent. And the last 7 games are a very manageable schedule. This is a playoff team who can rush the passer and has a QB nobody wants to play against. They'll be underdogs in maybe every playoff game, but live dogs.

Yeah, lucky wins, ugly wins, wins because their coach is even dumber than our coach, I don't really give a shit about any of that. I want the team to win every possible game and go to the playoffs. If they get curb stomped by a wild card team, so be it. Any playoff experience for Deshaun and the other young guys will be invaluable, and who knows, maybe at some point in Deshaun's career they might have a Super Bowl caliber team.

I assume there is a blame game happening inside the Broncos? To Arky's point, it does seem like there is a good deal of harmony right now among the Texans players. 6-game winning streaks will help with that. |
