Half an hour after I post that, I found more to the story.
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/09/10/v...ant-to-play-f/ While I do feel bad for the guy, when you combine this with inability to read a defense and I don't think there's any chance he even becomes a decent starter in this league. Hell, I think there's a strong chance he's retired in the next year or two. |

yea, it seems like of all the things he has going for him (incredible athleticism, great arm, decent team, so on) the one thing that you CAN teach is how to read defenses....
....but he can't? and now he just wants to quit? there are people everywhere, including some of us typing on this message board, or this post even, that would do almost anything to have the size, skill, and general makeup to even be IN the NFL, much less good enough at any part of football to make one a stand out. so when i see this guy who has everything, granted he's worked for it, but gives it up or teeters on the brink of giving up i feel more agitated than sorry for him. it's just a game. i suppose if anything it means he cares about the game and his performance...

Vince was never what you would call the intelectual type. Just ask his professors at Texas. Not that he was incapable, he just wasn't interested. So why listen to the coach and watch all that film. If he ever realizes he is not a child phenom anymore, he will eventually morph into a decent QB.
