Default Texans Extend GM Rick Smith thru 2020 Season

So now we can all rest well knowing the man who has delivered so many championships to the city of Houston is locked in for four more years.

I'm going to renew my season tickets right away.

I hope all of you have realized that this team will never win a championship while Bob is alive. Things will get more grim when he's gone.

GMs don't count against the salary cap (although maybe they and head coaches should). McNair can pay Smith however much he wants and it still offers no job security.

If you think Rick Smith's job security is in question you are nuts. If you think remaining years on the contract don't matter in a decision like that, you are nuts. McNair is not going to swallow an entire new contract to get rid of a guy who he kept after the embarrassment of the 2-14 season. Smith might have more job security than Cal McNair.
