Default Knowing what we know now...

Had you been in charge of the Texan's draft in 2014, which comes closest to how you would have drafted?

a) Drafted JaDeveon Clowney at 1/1.
b) Drafted Blake Bortles at 1/1.
c) Drafted Teddy Bridgewater at 1/1.
d) Drafted Johnny Manziel at 1/1.
e) Drafted Khalil Mack at 1/1.
f) Taken Clowney or Mack at 1/1 then drafted Derek Carr in the 2nd.
g) Taken Clowney or Mack at 1/1 then drafted Jimmy Garapolo in the 2nd.

Discuss.

Hindsight kind of gets in the way here but I was pretty much a "g". I think at the time, just about everybody in the country had Clowney mocked at 1.1 but I think if the Texans had thrown a curveball and went with Mack, I would have fully supported it.

Garoppolo was intriguing and another who I would've fully supported had the Texans chosen him at 2.1.

Su'a-Filo needs reps and Fido doesn't seem to get it but there is still more story to be written on the 2014 draft...

I might have chosen Bortles, but I guess too early to tell with almost all the choices.

Cool

Return of the Mack!!
The truly sad part of this is that the Raiders had a much better draft , and they were 5 picks later.

Oh I was (c) back then, and I'd still take Bridgewater there now.

I was c) but went for a) once it was clear that the Texans weren't going to choose Bridgewater. Name the 2014-drafted QB that has since started a playoff game.

I'd take Carr over all the other QBs. The fact we could have had him and Mack (the best pass rusher) and ended up with neither is pretty bad.

If you're asking what we wanted to do back then, I knew they were going to take Clowney and I didn't do too much hand-wringing over it. Everyone knows resignation is my middle name.

But if you're asking what I would do now, well, I don't understand the question, really. You take the best player (Mack) and the best quarterback (Carr) and you can do that without getting cute and Casserlying yourself out of important picks.

That reminds me, I heard something on the radio a while back about how Phillip Buchanon's mother demanded that he pay her something like three million dollars for raising him. In the interview he came across as a pretty good dude, a pretty bright dude. Which is good because at least he has that going for him.

Mack seemed more like an OLB than Clowney did to me. I'm still holding out hope that some day we can get Jimmy Garoppolo.
