Default Official Texans vs. Jets Game Thread, 11/22/2015

The 4-5 Texans host the 5-4 New York Jets in an early game this Sunday at NRG Stadium. The Jets are coming off a 22-17 home loss to the Buffalo Bills in a TNF game so they will have a some extra rest. Jet QB Ryan Fitzpatrick didn't have a particularly good game going 15/34, 193 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs and a 57.6 rating.

The Texans are coming off a 10-6 road victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on MNF so it is a somewhat short week for them. At present, QB Brian Hoyer is going through concussion protocol and is not expected to start. That leaves newly acquired TJ Yates as the possible starter and the even more newly acquired Brandon Weeden as emergency backup...

One matchup to keep an eye on will be Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins vs. all world CB Darrelle Revis.

---------------------------------------------------------------

TV = CBS (channel 11 local), noon, Sunday, Nov 22

It's really unfair to have a team coming off a Thursday game to play a team coming off a Monday night game. Bye weeks can't be avoided but you'd think there are 20-odd teams coming off Sunday games they could schedule for the Thursday-night's next week on the schedule. You're giving one team approx. twice the healing/prep time as the other.

It happens next week, too..... We get New Orleans off their bye...

Man, I don't know about this one (Jets game). A lot of signs favoring the Jets here....

Every game so fk'n important, now that the Texans squandered the 1st half of the season...

Squandered is right. Three blowout losses, one embarrassment against the Colts and an "acceptable" loss in Carolina. They did not even come close to winning any of the games they lost so they must really feel lucky to be 4-5.

The Jets are a hard team to figure. They started out hot and then they've collapsed as the injuries have piled up. They're a team the Texans *can* match up with plus they'll be at home.

If they can somehow manage to win 2 of the next 3, they set up nicely for the home stretch (after losses to New England and Indy). They close with Jacksonville and Tennessee. That winds up as an 8-8 season and maybe 9-7 if they can pull off another miracle but I'm not predicting that.

Yep. The Texan defense will need to continue to play like they have in the last two games. They haven't allowed a touchdown in 10 quarters, now.... Hoyer or TJ or whomever needs to figure out how to manufacture some points against this good Jet defense....

It would also be a great time to beat the Colts in Indy...... During that game, you know the announcers will inform us viewers, "You know, the Texans have never won in Indianapolis" 528 times. I would really like to see that comment die a harsh death....

I'm starting to feel a bit better about this Jets game.... I'm seeing some sharp action leaning towards the Texans side. But that doesn't mean anything - the sharps can be wrong..... They're just less wrong than the general public over time....

The Texans are promoting former New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens running back Akeem Hunt to the active roster from the practice squad, according to sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The Texans cut outside linebacker Kourtnei Brown to create a roster spot for Hunt.

The Texans need depth and speed at running back. Chris Polk is dealing with a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable on the injury report after not practicing Friday.

Hunt ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day workout. He had a 37.5-inch vertical leap, a 3.96 short shuttle and a 10-2 broad jump.

Hunt finished his career with over 4,600 all-purpose yards, ranking him among the top backs in Purdue history along with Kory Sheets and Mike Alstott.

I like it. When is the last time if ever we saw a sub 4.4 guy at RB for the Texans ? With Foster gone, they need to have a new name in the DC at RB, and do we ever need some speed, a guy with a burst taking handoffs.

TJ is living dangerously.

Need to see some adjustments to counter the blitz package they're throwing at him.
