I'm guessing we end season in Indy just to ruin our season.

First impressions:

Week 9 bye = perfect

4 out 7 on the road to start the season. Starting week 2, Carolina, Tampa and Atlanta all in a row just about takes care of that conference.

2 Prime time.

Buffalo and Tenn later in the season might be the only "chilly" games...

Concern over cold weather games is an old Oilers/Astrodome problem. It doesn't seem like the Texans in their short history have had many cold game issues, and I doubt Bill O'Brien is too worried about it. Primary concern is with how Ryan Mallett (or the QB of the day) handles it.

Not sure I want to underestimate the Panthers, but the first quarter of the schedule sets up nicely heading into the game (at home) on TNF against the Colts. That will be a highly anticipated game.

Pats and Colts back-to-back late in the season ought to feel like a playoff preview. Lots of former Pats on the staff in Houston probably looking forward to that game.

With 3 straight division games to wrap up the season, the division is sure to be up for grabs deep into December. I guess that's good for intrigue.

"Chilly" works several ways - players, coaches, fans, etc. The Texans have been pretty good in cold weather compared to some of the other southern teams...

Some of the radio guys are predicting 2-3 over the first 5 games. Any thing better than that has to be good.... As mentioned, they must get that QB position sorted ASAP to have a chance as I think the defense will keep us in a lot of games this year...

2-3? That is quite pessimistic, though 3-2 isn't much different and that seems plausible. Last year, the losses typically came against teams with good QBs, so maybe the determination should be dependent upon how well you regard Cam Newton and Matt Ryan (obviously Andrew Luck is terrific).

Clearly, the games with the Colts are going to be the most critical, and for the second year in a row, the NFL has given the Texans a home game against them on just four nights rest. Many of the TNF games last year just were lopsided and unwatchable as I recall. Not sure how I feel about that... you would think the advantage would go to the home team in such as scenario, but for such an important game, I think I'd rather just get the Colts at home on a normal week.

Overall though, this is the 3rd weakest schedule in the league... on paper, it's hard to believe there aren't at least as many wins here as there were in 2014.

I remember how the Chiefs laid a 300-lb egg at home against the Titans in week 1 last year. I'm not ceding the season opener to them. I'm glad we get them in Week 1.

I think we hit the bye week at 5-3 or 6-2. Not worried at all about the Jax-Mia-Ten lead-up to the bye week. OTOH, I see a 4-4 second half. That means 9-7 or 10-6.
