Default Texans' 2014 NFL season schedule due out soon

The NFL season schedule is coming out soon (predicted mid-April) and might be the next best thing that happens between now and the draft.....

Quote:
Based on Aiello's email, the schedule will likely come out sometime between Tuesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 24.

Although the 256-game regular season schedule isn't out yet, we do know a few things. We know which teams will be playing in London and we know the Seahawks will be hosting the NFL opener on Sept. 4.

We also know that the 49ers won't be hosting any Monday or Thursday games in 2014 due to the traffic conditions around the team's new stadium during rush hour. The 49ers could still conceivably host a Thanksgiving game though as that wouldn't be affected by rush hour traffic.

Anyway, here's what we do know:

Week 1 on Sept. 4: TBA at Seattle

Week 4 on Sept. 28: Dolphins at Raiders in London, 1 p.m. ET

Week 8 on Oct. 26: Lions at Falcons in London, 9:30 a.m. ET

Week 10 on Nov. 9: Cowboys at Jaguars in London, 1 p.m. ET

Week 13 (Thanksgiving Day): AFC at Lions, NFC at Cowboys

The Week 8 game between the Falcons and Lions will be the earliest Eastern Time Zone kickoff time in NFL history.

We'll have to wait until mid-April to find out everything else.

Though this probably belongs in the NFL forum, I put it here so we can over-analyze what the Texans schedule looks like when it comes out ...

The team announced the preseason schedule today,

who, not day or time. all on local ABC.

Week 1: At Arizona Cardinals within August 7-10
Week 2: Atlanta Falcons
Week 3: At Denver Broncos , 3rd game we usually see most starters
Week 4: San Francisco 49ers

Some good competition for the preseason.

I'm looking forward to open practices to see how routines and style have changed.

The regular season schedule not out but the Texans will face the Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Ravens, Bengals, Bills, Eagles and Redskins at home. Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Browns, Steelers, Raiders, Cowboys and Giants on the road.

Very good. Challenging lineup for the "new" Texans....

Schedule looks fair enough to me. Bye week in week 10.

A chance for Texans to have a reasonable year.

Play a lot of teams with ex-Texans this year.

Play Kubiaks offense with Baltimore in week 16 in Houston.

But I have no idea how the team will play this year. Lots of changes.

And

Easiest 2014 schedules, based on 2013 records:

1. Colts .430
2. Titans .438
3. Texans .441
4. Jaguars .453
5. Ravens .461

Whioch probably doesn't mean to much in 2014.

Just means the AFC South plays each other twice.

They all look tough to me. I believe the odds makers have the early team over/under at 8.5 which seems way too high to me (and I think most Houstonians), though nationally, it seems there's this perception that Texans 2013 was a blip that will be corrected....

Until we understand the 2014 QB situation better, I agree with this. Need better QB play to win.

Ya, it always amazes me how the oddsmakers can be so..... prescient (adj - knowledge of events before they take place; foreknowledge). And be pretty darned close.... Setting a line with some established teams is understandable but for a team like the Texans - in such a state of upheaval - they've got to be guessing a little...

One book already has the Texans as 1.5 point favorites over the Redskins in Week 1...

2-14 last year with no clue about who's going to be our signal-caller this year and we are going into the season opener as the favorite. So I gotta ask, who
says we need a stinkin QB ?

The Redskins went through their own upheaval. I suspect the oddsmaker see Washington presently as 1.5 pts better minus the normal three points home field advantage.

Apparently Texans have a chance to bounce back due to road schedule theory.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...-browns-texans

"The Texans are another team with a chance to bounce back. They are more talented than their 2-14 record. They face a nondivision road schedule of teams that went a combined 31-49. They brought in Ryan Fitzpatrick -- like McCown, a backup type -- to buy time as they consider drafting a quarterback."

Let's hope. I just remembered the Texans are on a 14 game losing streak which (I think) is a team record. The sooner they can close the book on that little achievement, the better...
