I'm not thrilled with having the #1 pick unless we can parlay it into more 2nd and 3rd round picks by trading down. I'm not targeting any particular position. I believe we need a RT to protect whoever the QB is going to be. Not exactly happy with the idea of taking a RT #1 overall, but he's the 'surest' thing that will make an impact and start right away. If I'm going to get a QB to fit the Patriots offense - which we will be running with O'Brien - I have to go with Bortles. Since Bridgewater and Manziel have been sitting on the sidelines, Bortles has seen his stock rise and may be the top QB off the board. Carr isn't on my board because I don't want a QB talking about the Gospel in the lockerroom. I'm not anti-Christian, just want a QB who can separate God from football. Thinking Jimmy Garoppolo or AJ McCarron could be as good if not better on the field. I'd be willing to trade down to #14 and take the top guy left on my draft board as long as I got extra picks. I may have Gilbert higher than anyone else running mock drafts or top 50 lists, but I put him in the Patrick Peterson class shut-down CB/return specialist/playmaker. Anyway, here's my guys:

Any idea which picks move your list from 1st round to 2nd round and then 3rd round.....

I have watched Matthews for 4 years and I like the kid, but I don't think I have him as the top pick in the draft. I don't even have him as the top OT in the draft anymore.

Also I'm kinda shocked were you have clowney.

I'm not saying Matthews is the 'best' as much as I'm saying 'safest' pick. Greg Robinson is an impressive, athletic, big man. He seems a big 'raw' and sort of a 'project' in pass protection, but has a huge upside. The more I follow the draft, rate players, then track the players in the league; the more I realize 'we' don't know as much as we think we do (GMs, Draft gurus, Fans, all of us). So, If you are going to 'miss' and make a mistake, make your own mistake instead of following the crowd. I am sure that this list will fluctuate over the next 70 days or so.

#1-#14 are first round picks in my estimation. I'll be surprised if Manziel lasts to #32.

#15 - #23 are guys I like for a 2nd round pick. Bucannon is my prototypical Safety based on his measurable, he tackles and is physical like Swearinger but I think has better cover potential. Because of the need in my estimation and the scarcity in this draft, I may over-value him. I may have Trent Murphy undervalued because I'm not sure if I want him to replace Antonio Smith or Brooks Reed (he's either too small or too slow) - but I like watching him play, thus making him one of 'My Guys' because I like his effort. If you put Murphy's heart & effort in Clowney's body - Then, Clowney is my #1 pick. Then I look at Kareem Martin, and compare him to Cameron Jordan and plug him right into Antonio Smith's position.
I would and may yet put Jimmy Garoppolo up into the 2nd round over McCarron if I didn't see other sources listing him as a 3rd rounder. I admit I didn't see him all season, Alabama got more T.V. time, so that or the SEC competition may be the bias. When it's all said and done, I may slide Bortles down too, thus making Garoppolo even more important to snag instead of hoping and waiting he's there in the 3rd.

#24 - #37 Are my third rounders. Matthews & Adams may be 2nd rounders in the 'real draft' but there are so many big/fast WRs in this draft and I would put Moncrief or Bryant right there. It would almost be a crime to NOT draft one of these guys, there's so much value. With many underclassmen declaring this year, next year may be bare. The third round is where I would consider getting a Giovanni Bernard - type RB if we don't sign Ben Tate or if we are concerned about Foster's future. Sankey & Mason are not big every-down backs, but could make big impacts with few touches. The Biggest Surprise (literally and figuratively) is NT Zack Kerr from Delaware. He is like Bucannon in that he's the only player at a need position who fits my physical prototype. I will admit that I haven't seen him play, but I want him in the middle of the DL and hoping we can coach him up to be a poor-man Dontari Poe or Vince Wilfork. I've seen him ranked much lower.

#38 - #47 Are 4th round prospects. I love Caraun Reid and compare him to Jay Ratliff and Geno Atkins. Not sure if he's a 'fit' in the 3-4 we will be running, but I would give him a shot. This is also a round where I could get Sharpton's replacement or depth if Cushing goes down with injury. If we haven't drafted a QB yet, then this is the time to do it. Logan Thomas is raw as hell, but his size, athleticism, and arm strength makes him a project I wouldn't mind spending a 4th round pick on to see if he could develop.

The rest of my list are athletes who could be 5th rounders - Free Agent signings after the draft.

Thank you for the breakdown. I get that Matthews is the safest pick in the top of the draft. And as such is the top of your list.

I am hoping for a trade down, I am hoping that Cleveland is really impressed with Johnny Football and thinks it has to leapfrog some teams.

But that is unlikely. I admit that I have not watched as much college as I have in the past, also I am not getting all worked up as to who I think should be the pick. With the new regime in town I have no clue who will be here next September, and I am looking forward to getting to know some new Texans.

Hoping for a trade down with the Falcons... moved Greg Robinson up in the same thought that the Chiefs drafted Eric Fisher and were able to let Branden Albert go via FA, meanwhile the QB will be protected and the run game improved. Justin Gilbert is just unmatched in my mind in terms of Patrick Peterson as a shut-down CB and KR. He seems undervalued as I see mock drafts having going to Detroit at #10. I also see that Jimmy Garoppolo and Deone Bucannon have been moving up draft boards and would be great picks in the 2nd round if we were to gain extra draft picks in a trade down. I like the depth of this draft and just hope some team falls in love with a QB/LT/OLB/DE and wants to trade up.
