Default Hypothetical for you

Here's a couple hypotheticals that I've been thinking about that I think are both realistic possibilities. Curious which y'all would rather see happen.

First one - Assume that Tennessee ultimately goes in the tank (let's say Hasselbeck gets hurt (long shot, I know)) and we win the division virtually by default, much like the AFC West has been won in year's past. Let's also assume we do this by going 8-8 or 9-7 and looking pretty mediocre while doing it. All the while, Kubiak continues to coach like, well, Kubiak. Nevertheless, we make the playoffs and even host a home playoff game (which we promptly lose). However, because we have finally made the playoffs, Kubiak is assured of another several years on the job.

The second scenario is the Titans continue to play well and win the division. Maybe we go 7-9. This is the final nail in Kubiak's coffin and he is summarily dismissed in the offseason.

Which would you rather see? While I would love to see a playoff game (particularly at home), I can't help but think that if we back into the playoffs, while continuing to look like the same unprepared teams that are a trademark of Kubiak's tenure, that one playoff game is not worth the tradeoff of 3-4 more years of Kubiak. Just some food for thought.

I don't care if the Texans win the division with a 7-9 record (which is what the Seahawks did last year in the NFC West IIRC), and we therefor get into the playoffs, I'd take that in a heartbeat and give Kubiak his Xtention.
I'm not proud, atleast not that proud. I say win the division and get in the playoffs first, then worry about achieving a better record sometime in the future.

Playoffs for sure. Arizona was a crappy playoff team that snuck in and they backed into the superbowl by being hot at the right time (and then almost won it). Seattle got to host a playoff game and get to the 2nd round last year at 7-9.

The NFL is one and done. No best of seven, so the lesser team wins a whole lot of the time. So give me the playoff game. You've got to be in it to win it.

And I think that Tennessee could very well go 7-9 with Hassellback playing every game.

Given the two hypothetical scenarios only to consider - I'd definitely take Texans go to the playoff's. And maybe it would be the first of many appearances in the playoffs. Gotta try to win each game for sure.
