Default How would the CAP be effected if we BROUGHT IN...

How would the CAP be effected if we brought in both Nnamdi Asomugha and Champ Bailey assuming that the CBA gets signed some time in the near future. I believe our corner situation is so bad that this should be a consideration. But is it even possible? Just wondering.

It would depend on what the CAP is and how much they each costs us. At the very least paying both would probably eliminate any other FA moves.

Champ Baily is HIGHLY over rated.

Everybody thinks he's a shutdown corner. He actually plays the run very well, far better than the pass. If you watch him as much as I do you see him get burned quite a bit. His past reputation is what people know of him.

Pass on him in a big way and rely on the scouting department to their job on the younger kids. If they can't do their job, hire someone else...it ain't like there's a personnel shortage in this country.

I admit I haven't watched him as closely as you and I don't doubt that his skill set has slipped. However, outside of basically Nnamdi and Revis, pretty much every corner in the league gets burned if you watch them closely. Just the nature of the game now. Plus, I heard somewhere that he was open to a move to free safety to extend his career. Might be a good fit.

Also, I think you are greatly discounting the value of experience and leadership. I think one of the big problems this year was the utter lack of a veteran presence. I don't want to go into next year with Glover Quin as the veteran presence.

And just asking for the scouting department to either do a better job or be replaced doesn't really get us anywhere. There is no way to magically make them do a better job and there is no indication that McNair will hold them accountable. You might as well ask for a unicorn.

I think you need to read his actual quote. In it he states that he still considers himself an elite CB and he thinks he has a few more years as such, then he is will in a few years to move to FS.

Interpretation is that he wants top 5 CB money for the next few years then a reduction in pay to top tier FS money. Hardly in touch with reality. He has already started to slip to slightly above average, hardly an elite player anymore.

Of course Champ Bailey is going to claim he is still a CB. They make the big bucks. At least far more than a FS. I wouldn't pay him CB money if I were the GM.
