Default Texans' Holliday Out For Season

Link for AP report
Quote:
HOUSTON - Houston Texans rookie kick returner Trindon Holliday is gone for the season.

Coach Gary Kubiak says Holliday will have surgery Wednesday on his broken left thumb. Holliday had been wearing a cast on the thumb in recent practices.

Holliday fumbled a punt and mishandled a kickoff return in the Texans' 38-20 loss to New Orleans on Saturday. Kubiak blamed Holliday's miscues on his injured thumb.

The five-foot-five Holliday was a sixth-round pick out of LSU. He is the reigning NCAA champion in the 100-metre dash and impressed scouts when he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the combine.

Holliday is the second Texans' draft pick to sustain a season-ending injury during training camp. Running back Ben Tate, a second-round pick out of Auburn, broke his ankle in Houston's first preseason game.
Well, that was convenient. The guys sucks eggs for two games and now gets a free pass for the rest of the season. Hopefully, they surgically attach suction cups to his finger tips during the operation.

Well, as much as I love my Bayou Bengals, I'm kinda glad to see this happen. He did not perform like his college days. He was timid, nervous, unsure...something was going on in that noodle. Hopefully next year, after he has a year to sit and watch, he will be in a better spot to do something.

Yeah, he'll get a second chance this way. Going on IR is also a plus so as not use up one of the practice squad spots....

You're not very good when fans are wishing for the good 'ol times and 'sure hands' of Jacoby Jones @ PR/KR. They're doing the kid a favor by putting him on IR. He deserved to be cut.
