On Path to the Draft, John McClain shook his head at the notion of the Texans looking at any offensive player in the first round, including Knowshon. Just because we had the 3rd best offense and 23rd best defense doesn't mean we HAVE to take a defensive player at #15. I hope we don't let needs dictate what we do in the draft. If the best player available at #15 is offensive, we MUST trade down or take that offensive player.

Watched the show. Pretty much just a segment with a remote John McClain. The flies circling McClain were hilarious. I'll refrain from any obvious jokes here in deference to the recent downsizing of his co-workers. Sad day there at the chron earlier this week.
NFLN listed DE as the team's top need, but McClain remained steadfast in thinking an outside LB will the pick, specifically Clay Matthews. He also made perfectly clear that the team will not look at an offensive skill position in the first round, noting all the changes in defensive coaches this offseason and the lower overall ranking versus #3 for the offense. |

I have been having this disscusion for awhile now on another board and it amazes me how people think our offense is so great that we shouldnt draft any offense except a backup RB in the later rounds. First off thats a horrible way to approach the draft. Second we were 3rd in the NFL in YPG. That doesnt meen sht. The true stat is we wre 17th in points scored. Thats a better guage of where we are as an offense. YPG can be missleading for so many reasons. |
