Im going to stick this here, there were other places or a new thread but this works too I think.
I am certain that the last 2 years when the defence started getting better towards the end of the year we have heard that they are making the scheme simpler and being more agressive. Every year they are better at the end of the year, and this is the reason we get. Year 1-- Well it was just too much to take in all at once so we made it simpler. Year 2-- With all the injuries and new players we needed to make it simpler. Year 3- We decided to make it more simple and be more aggressive. This isnt Pitt or Baltimore. Our defence cannot be nearly that complicated, and evidently the only team it confuses is our own. This is just something I have noticed and it bugs the hell out of me. Maybe Richard Smith needs to tear out the last half of his Defensive Coordinator for Dummies book and stick with the front portion. |

I do not think it is a coincidence that our defense started performing better with the activating of Dunta or Adibi getting some PT.

Adibi increased our team speed big time. This has made our blitzes far more effective and far more frequent. Eugene Wilson doubles the rang of our safeties. Dunta Robinson plays the slot great. All of this has made our corners twice as good on outside coverage. Its all tied together. Now if we could just get some solid DT play to keep Demeco and Adibi clean. |

We could maybe do more criss crossing of the ends and tackles, but to do that the CBs have to have tight coverage on the receivers, or we could be giving up big chunks of yardage. But we at least need to try it more to see whether or not if it will work for us. Of course we have cut way down the last 3 games on the TDs (either running or passing) so maybe we just better leave it like it is.
