Why Rick Smith, he didn't hire Kubiak or Smith! The head coach is in over his head because he call the plays and can't keep up with strategy (such as substitutions & timeouts) at the same time. Thus we lose time and field management. Richard Smith, the DC, is just flat out incompetent in my opinion. AND the defensive line (except for mario), is still ineffective. Demeco is no longer a tackling machine, and the secondary would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic.

I'll sign it twice if it'll do any good.

I think that is kind of a moot point. Richard Smith and some of the defensive staff will be gone at the end of the year. I am not sure that changing the DC midstream is going to help. You are not going to be able to implement a new scheme in the middle of the year. Kubes loves Frank Bush, and he would be the logical choice to be in contention for a new DC, but if they give it to Bush midseason and the "D" still bites, then that does not give Frank a legitimate chance as DC.

I guy I think will be considered is Jim Bates. The Dolphin players loved him when he was the interim coach in Miami, and he has a history of being a DC. I would rather Kubes wait until the end of the year, evaluate who is available and make a sound, wise decision, instead of making a rash one now, and not giving Bush or even Hoke a fair chance at the job.

If we do wait until the end of the season to fire the DC, I think we might as well go whole hog and fire the whole defensive bunch. Start with a clean defensive slate. Then go defense in the draft and do a good job getting a FA for defense. You will note an instant improvement from the defensive players who are left when they know they will be playing for jobs.

On total, they ought to hire an experienced football man to run the whole operation for McNair, someone with full hire and fire authority. Kubiak will only be responsible for the coaches he is given to play with. Everything will be performance related, from salary to playing time.
