If I read the AP story correctly, the FCC says Comcast should carry the NFL Network on their digital lineup, not a special extra-charge sports package. The irony is that Time Warner for years has tried to get the NFL Network to agree to be carried on the digital level and they refuse - demanding to be carried on the basic level. So the NFL goes to the FCC to force Comcast to carry them on a level at which they refuse to let Time Warner carry them.

IMO, the digital lineup is exactly where they ought to have been the whole time. If ESPN Classic (as much a niche channel as NFL Network) is paid for by all digital subscribers, why is the NFL Network any different?
