Default Can the Texans Beat the Jinx?

They have not only had a hecuva hard schedule to begin the NFL season, but the last game showed they have had the evil eye on 'em. Houston seems to be a hardluck town for sports teams. At least the pro football ones. I know the offensive line needed time to get the ZBS of coach Gibbs down, and the defense was missing a true DRE, but barrin all that, some would said we choked. I don't buy that, I think Sage wanted that game very much. It just was not to be. After the whirligig fumble returned for a TD, Sage was trying too hard and took too much on himself. However, having said that, the team is going to have to learn how to play to win, not just survive. That is the job Kubiak has in store for him this week.

you can call it a choke. I call it badluck at an exceedingly bad time. If we can just get off the mat and win the next game(s), it will all be forgotten.

fwiw, maybe jinx or becoming confident is more like the right term than choke. but anyways, we need wins and holding wins once ahead in third and fourth quarter. perhaps for me choke would be more like we were 7W-1L, and then lost the rest to miss the playoffs. I guess it is a couple more solid players, mostly on D, and maturity on coaching staff so more often play a full game good enough to win, and last game we were that good for 56 minutes.

I wouldn't call it a total choke. Choke to me is missing an easy putt, or missing a freethrow or layup for a win. Dropping a pass in your hands wide open would be a choke in football.

I'd call the Oilers loss to Bufallo a choke.

I think trying too hard and hard luck is the definition of this past game.

I honestly believe that even if Rosenfels first fumble isn't run back we still win.

That was my feeling in making the thread. No one feels worse about the loss than Sage does. This next game against the Dolphin "Wildcats" will tell the tale of the season, IMO. If we get the, "mess with the Bull, get the Horns" attitude going, we will win, but it will take a total team effort.

IMO, a choke is a team thing when ya talk about wins an losses, but on an individual basis that was a major choke/meltdown by Sage and IT wound up costing the game. Not sure if that makes much sense, but that's how I see it.

Whatever, we finally broke the jinx today, albeit by one point against the Dolphins, 29-28. Whew - now let's add to our wins.
