Default Official Texans 2017 Schedule

I believe this is due out today. Seems like they announce it around 7pm.

To refresh, here's an update by Sarah Barshop (ESPN) written back in January when the opponents were announced:

Quote:
The Texans clinched first place in the AFC South division in Week 16, but were waiting on other results on Sunday to help finalize their 2017 home and away opponents. The dates of each game will be determined in the spring, when the full regular-season schedule is released.

Home opponents (*playoff team): Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs*, Pittsburgh Steelers*, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans

Away opponents (*playoff team): Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots*, Seattle Seahawks*, Tennessee Titans

My take: After winning the AFC South for the second year in a row, the Texans have another difficult schedule in 2017. Facing the AFC North is not an easy task; Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincinnati will likely all be competing for playoff spots next season, and Houston has to travel to New England for the second straight season. A trip to Seattle will also provide a formidable challenge, as will a visit to what could be a rejuvenated Cardinals team. Within the AFC South, with Tennessee taking a step forward this season, a new head coach in Jacksonville and Andrew Luck in Indianapolis, the Texans might not be able to rely on divisional play for five or more wins.

First four games (per my friend with the team):

Vs Jax
@Cincy (Thurs)
@NE
Vs Tenn

The entire NE schedule has been leaked online and it jives with playing HOU in week 3.

Christmas day is a little weird.... a Monday afternoon game on NBC. At least it's here. One each of TNF, SNF and MNF fills out the rest of prime time.

Man.... with any decent QB play and a little luck this is a 12-win schedule. Could easily be a 7-win schedule if QB situation is another dumpster file and key injuries occur.

TNF on the road Week 2 is a tough ask, but bodies are fresher earlier in the season, so maybe not so bad. Bengals typically haven't mailed it in quite that early though. Extended break for the Pats roadie in Week 3. I'd prefer playing the Patriots in September than later in the season, although that didn't really work out last year.

The Texans will need to take advantage of the three straight home games before the bye. The back-to-back short week on the road between the Ravens on MNF followed by @ Tennessee will be rough. Would not be happy if there's much on the line for a road game at Indy in Week 17 either.

My gut impression is 10 wins and that's with no major upgrade at QB. We take 5 of 6 in the division (lone loss at Indy), we lose to Cincy, New England, Seattle, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. All the rest seem winnable. I'm saying we can beat KC because we did it at home last year and this one will be in prime time at home with a jacked-up NRG crowd.
