Ok. Can we please score another TD and basically put this game away? Or crap, at least a FG?

Kubiak drafted that guy. I mean, he went out of his way to draft him.

Of course Kubiak has a Super Bowl ring as a head coach and Rick Smith is licking the hairless nuts of a gutless puke. So I guess they're even.

Winning UGLY - it's what the Texans do.

All I could think of was Randy Bullock beating the Texans but he yipped it. Pooooooor Aggie!

Congratulations, Houston Texans, 2016 AFC South Champions! Don't interview Savage, chickie. Interview this defense. Week after week, they're the ones getting the job done.

BTW, Merry Christmas!

Post-game conference:

Reporter: As ugly as the team..
O'Brien: It doesn't matter, Brian. AFC South Champs, Brian. AFC South Champs
Reporter: But as ugly...
O'Brien: Doesn't matter, Brian. We're AFC South Champions.

Yoo hoo, Brian! Scoreboard. Division standings! Scoreboard...

Goodness. Here's your Christmas gift, Texan fan: A heart attack!

-------------------------------------------------------

OB was interviewed at halftime and really looked like a guy under pressure. Not sure why... he's not going anywhere.... He apparently doesn't realize this..... it can be seen in his puckered up play calling, the fall back on conservative game planning and the total reliance on tough, grind-it-out (read: boring) football. I just don't get it. Loosen up, take a shot (downfield, not the liquid kind), chill out.... Texans were >< that close to losing tonight and Tennessee is probably gonna kick our asses next week so, release the hounds! More intermediate and deep passes, more Hunt, more Grimes, sprint-outs for Savage, a run game that's not 90% between the tackles...........Jiminy...

I'm thinking his "uptightness" transfers directly to the QB and the offense as a whole....

--------------------------------------------------------

At any rate, should be an interesting watch next week at Tennessee. Two backup QB's going at it.... A scrimmage to end the season.....

I'd like to think that next week they'll open things up and let TS air it out a little bit and see what happens.

Of course it is Beavis and Buttface running things.

Not sure which coach mismanaged the clock more in the final four minutes of that game.

The Bengals are quitters, and yet, the Texans gave them no reason to quit this game. I'll say this at least - they made an adjustment at halftime to try and get Savage into a better passing rhythm. And it worked! And about as soon as it did, Godsey and O'Brien went back to the same bullcrap they tried in the first half.

Small chance but the Texans could find a way into being the #3 seed, which would help them avoid going to New England one extra week should they win the wild card round. If the Ravens beat the Steelers on Sunday then lose to the Bengals in Week 17 while the Texans beat the Titans, then the #3 seed is theirs.

I would be shocked if Lamar Miller saw the field next week so take out the best weapon. Titans tend to goon it up when they have nothing to play for so there may be other DNPs just for precaution.

A #3 seed would be terrific but the odds are against it. With Derek Carr breaking his leg, the 6-3-2 side of the bracket looks like an engraved invitation to the AFC Championship Game for whomever is the #3 seed. But you can bet the suits want Steelers-Patriots now and will send the refs out to make sure they get it.

All O'Brien needs to do is not lose as badly in the first round as last year to be able to declare "progress was made" and a justification for maintaining the status quo.

It's gonna be interesting to see how O'Brien prepares for and handles the game with the Titans ?
Stepping up to the #3 seed would be desirable but so would resting starters
for the playoff game the following week in NRG.
I'd like to see Savage get some more game reps in Nashville but not behind our reserve OLine. Jez he go beat up enough behind the starters yesterday.
I hope O'Brien & Smith make the OLine their absolute top priority in the upcoming Draft.

You'd think it would be obvious but then it was obvious last offseason and we got deep threats instead.

The decision probably gets made for him today. If Pittsburgh wins, we rest up next week. If Baltimore wins, we play for #3.

With as bad as we've played, there is a fair chance we end up with the #3 seed and a home game against the Matt Moore led Dolphins in the wildcard round, with a game against the Matt McGloin led Raiders looming. It reminds me of when Rex Ryan and the Jets lucked their way into the AFC championship game and it convinced the NYJ ownership he was a good coach and guaranteed the decade of mediocrity to follow. I hope we don't stumble into an accidental playoff run that confirms O'Brien and Smith for the next 5+ years.

If the #3 seed is not in play next weekend, then after Lamar Miller, the most obvious to rest and protect starts with Clowney. Probably Mercilus, too. Another defensive shutdown is the best way to advance in the next round of the playoffs. Corners have been beat up too... Hated to see Bouye go down last night, even if it just meant missing one play.

Protecting Savage would be nice as well... starting to wonder how fragile he might be. But game reps are needed. To paraphrase the owner talking about Osweiler, it's kinda like Savage's rookie season here.
