No way, no how should Big Bird start next week. It wasn't only the INTs that got him benched. It was his inaccuracy. Look at the tape and the guy was throwing ducks all over the field. Has been all year. Sure, Savage had some not so great moments, but he won and moved the offense. He was way more accurate, lead his receivers, put the ball in position where only the offensive player could make the play, and most importantly, was able to use the field outside the hash marks. Big bird only has the ability to use the middle of the field and can't even do that well. You can tell the whole team was rejuvenated when Savage came in - especially the WRs and especially DHop. I say if you're going to go down in flames, you go down with Savage because you know darn well at this point you'll lose with Big Bird at the helm. Time to move on.

It seemed clear the crowd was energized when Savage came in. That should tell you a lot.

From a PFF article: "Osweiler is currently 35th in the PFF QB rankings with a grade of 40.9".
That's out of a 32 team league. Unfortunately, the guy is trash and is not going to get any better. I just do not see how anyone can justify this guy playing. I don't feel sorry for him and I don't think he should get another start. He's had his chance - and he's also taking it to the bank. |

Radio saying Las Vegas has the Titans favored at 55% to win the division, Texans at 45% to win the division. Note, Vegas usually bases things on "public perception"..... The Titans have beaten KC and Denver in the last two weeks and are indeed "hot"....
FiveThirtyEight is a little kinder (using whatever formula they use) having the Texans at 55% and the Titans at 42% to win the division. Whatever, it looks like the Titans & Texans are destined to solve it in a showdown in Week 17. On the road, @Tennessee. It will be a playoff game for the playoffs. Our "new QB" has one more preparation game (Cincy) to shake off the rust and find some chemistry with the receivers.... ------------------------------------------- Texan defense is now #1 in yds/gm allowed. Of course that isn't the full picture...... They're 12th in pts allowed with 21 given up per game. Getting Mercilus back will help. JJo? Hope he's ready for the Titans game.... |

Who knows how the Jags will come out next week ? Very likely depressed and flat after losing their HC but maybe the interim coach (whoever that is ?) will get them fired up and they will be at home ? |

Video - Every Tom Savage throw - about 4 minutes.
Hop really should have had the pass in the endzone about half way through the video... Not the 4th and 1 pass, a deep ball thrown later in the game.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Savage currently featured on the front page of NFL.com. Tom Savage over Brock Osweiler: The right move for the Texans by Adam Schein. |

Never mind the fact that you are literally the only person on the internet (other than Titans fans) who thinks BO should start much less ever play again, ever. In response to Keith, I don't know how good Savage was or is, but I know that we all saw a totally different offense with him in the game to what we've seen with Brock all year. We've all seen the stats, the ones that insist that BO is bottom three in any meaningful passing metric you want to look at. The ones that insist that he is 99 out of 100 all time at his age with X number of attempts. Those numbers are gruesome. The eye test is worse. I don't know why he's so terrible and I don't know why BOB can't fix him and at this point I don't care. The Texans have an elite defense and a good to very good running game and an OL that looks a hell of a lot better all of a sudden. If Savage had been playing all along providing league average production the team would be fighting with the Patriots for home field advantage. I can't wait for next year. BO will be the most expensive backup in the history of the league and that vile, reptilian owner and his fking ass licking lapdog will have to sit there together every single game a stew in their own watery shit. Anyway, if what we saw Sunday is indicative of what Savage can deliver then I am suddenly a lot more optimistic about making the playoffs and actually being competitive once we get there. I agree with Chris Simms, with Savage the Texans can beat anyone in the AFC save New England. |

Well, I don't know much about reptilian lapdogs, but Savage has certainly created a stir, not so much around Houston but the whole NFL. It's rare that our little burg of 6 million gets so much national attention. Tongues have been wagging about the Texans on ESPN, NFLN and NFL.com the last couple of days. Merrill Hoge, on one of those late-night ESPN/NFL programs, spoke very glowingly of Savage after watching the game tape (vs. Jags) and just about everyone seems to be endorsing the switch....
I think for us fans, he (Savage) represents hope. He didn't suck too bad in his "debut", so there's hope he can keep it going. I think a few have already mentioned how the offense looked completely different with Savage in the game. He's going to have a bad or not very productive day eventually, but we can hope that happens sometime next year..... ---------------------------------------------------- Brock doesn't exactly strike me as a Mensa member and you don't have to be to be a football player. QB is a little different though, as there is a certain amount of "snap" and leadership needed to play the position. It's a mystery to me how his skills have declined..... he seems to struggle with throwing an intermediate pass in the general vicinity of the receiver and with a deep ball, forget it. He used to could make a few of these. So, if he's not hiding an injury, one has to conclude that he's become a little mental about things (at least, that's my conclusion)...... Since he's probably going to be on the roster next year, the break should serve him well.... |
