Actually, there is some person or 'bot' from Argentina this time that seems to be the most intent. There are others, and they are all usually easy to spot. I think there are others from SE Asia, but I think they try and use IPs from elsewhere... one tried to be German I think.
Basically, if you click any of their links if they somehow get through, you'd be doing so at your own risk! And like I said, if I delete anyone's legit new account by accident, just let me know.

Special note for gmail users... I have disabled (at least temporarily) all registrations using a gmail address. Nearly all of these spammer bots are getting through using gmail (and yes, Bob, a few though are using Russian email accounts ...I think they don't have anti-spamming laws there or something).
While I know many of you use and have registered with valid gmail accounts, you may want to use a different email if you have one and are experiencing problems with the ITB.com forums.

I have been banning ranges of IP addresses to curtail spammers, and I know of one person already banned accidentally. Should this happen to you, please send me an email and let me know.

Just bumping this thread for any new users/registrations. Please read from the original post for the full story here.
One small update: I removed the ban on gmail accounts, at least for now, but I've banned a bunch of other free email accounts, too... so if you're registering and it says your email or IP has been banned, it's quite likely you just got caught in my web. Send me an email, and I will help to straighten it out. Some of the spammers are getting more difficult to discern from non-spammers, and if ItB.com has left you in the cold, please don't take it personally... I'm just protecting our little community of fans here so again, please shoot me an email to make an adjustment.

Prospective new registrants - if you receive a message when trying to register indicating some kind of ban, please let me know. This is nothing personal, just a paranoid admin protecting our peace-loving site from spam. Please read this thread from the top and email me with any problems. I'll try to resolve them within a day. With the forum upgrade complete, I have added a new custom question to the registration process that will hopefully reduce the number of bot registrations.
The question is something anyone who watches football can answer, but should anyone have trouble with the revamped new user registration process, please let me know. Thanks.
