Clowney, sadly, is entering official bust zone, due to his injuries. Stinks.
As for Watt, he played better last season without Clowney, and has been routinely doubled and sometimes tripled, so I'm not sure how much Clowney's absence affect him on Sunday. I think this defense overall, including Watt, just got a little too heady thinking they were better than they were. There's talent on the defense for sure, maybe less so at safety and linebacker, but I still believe there's a good D in there somewhere if these guys just stay in their lane and fulfill their roles. Playing the Jags is a good opportunity to start getting back on track. |

Quite a few pundits I follow the Twit say Clowney is actually playing pretty well and showing flashes of becoming a dominant player, although, it hasn't shown up in the sack column yet. With that being said, you still have to be consistently on the field and Clowney certainly hasn't done that yet. Bad thing is, we're quickly getting to that timeframe where you need to know what you have before that contract option kicks in.
On another note: JJ is now Questionable for the game due to illness. |

Lots of late action on the Jags. Jags now favored by 2 to 3 - not a good sign.....
Gametime in about 12 minutes.... Supposed to be very windy in Jacksonville.... |

Yes. And if the next 2 years go like the first 2, where will we be as far as extending? If it's that bad the answer would be not to extend, but I'd prefer to see some good progress from here on so we know for sure if we have a player or not.

Yesterdays OLine started with Duane Brown @ LT and Ben Jones @ center, so that's no change, but here's where it gets interesting - Newt moved from RT to RG and new guy FA Chris Clark replaced Newt @ RT, regular RG Brandon Brooks started @ LG where they've been playing newly acquired FA Obay Aboushi. So looks like that was all about plugging somebody in at LG and don't know what happened to Aboushi ? I'm wondering if 2nd round pick in 2014 LG Xavior Sui-Ofila is ever gonna get on the field again this year ?
Oline only gave up 1 sack and the teams rushed for 95 yards yesterday, so it was a so-so day for the Oline stat-wise. |

If we could get that kind of output from Hoyer each week, we might actually be competitive.
But, if Hoyer was able to produce that kind of output each week, this might not be his 8th team in 6 years....... Maybe some where in the middle? ![]() Definitely didn't see anything from Bortles to make we desire a swap for him a Clowney. He made some really stupid decisions, and likely cost his team a W. We have enough of that here already. Good to see Foster with a little step here and there. He has a knack for finding space where there isn't any.

I'm awesome at quoting myself.
Quote:
Crennel needs to keep this in mind if and when Clowney returns this season. Not quite sure Crennel is figuring out how to maximize the pieces he has on defense. Adding Clowney should make a defense more dynamic, not less dynamic. |
