Funny you bring this up Bob, I was thinking of this last week. Draftsite has Bridgewater going 26 to Cleveland. His possible destinations are Minnesota 8, Buffalo 9, Tennessee 11, and Dallas 16. If he gets past Dallas, we would be smart to have a trade in place w San Diego at 25. Maybe our 2.1 and 4.1 and our 3rd next year.

Can you imagine having to face Manziel and Bridgewater twice a year for the next 10 years if they landed in Jacksonville and Tennessee, respectively!? Not to mention Andrew Luck...

1.1. - J. Clowney, DE
1.25. - T. Bridgewater, QB
2.33. - Traded to S.D.
3.65. - Christian Jones, ILB/OLB
4.101. Traded to S.D.
4.135. - Jack Mewhort, OT
5.141. - Trai Turner, OG
6.177. - Antone Exum, CB/S
6.181. - Rajion Neal, RB
6.211. - Glen Carson, ILB

If it's scary to face manziel and bridgewater for the next 10 years then one should be the top pick.

I'm not really that worried about Manziel in a place like J'ville because I doubt he has the patience to develop there. Bridgewater, a Miami product, could be a different story.

Of course, I remind myself that I was the one proclaiming Errict Rhett to be an NFL star and thought Emmitt Smith would be a bust.

Says who, Mel Kiper, Mcshay.....? Internet draftniks? That's a common misconception alot of people have. Think Jimmy Graham would be taken in the 3rd again, or Russell Wilson, or capernick in the 2nd? Im sure Watt wouldnt last to 11 again. Drafts are always a crap shot. If Manziel falls to the 3rd, that won't make him any less of a pain to defend, that's for sure. If anything he'll play with a bigger chip on his shoulder.

That being said, if we could get a Manziel or Bridgewater in the second, i think that would be excellent value. I really like Bridgewater myself, but id also be happy with a Savage or garrapalo in the 3rd.

If there is a QB starved team at the top of the draft and a 10 year starter that scares other teams it's a no brainier pick. Any QB that can start on one team for 10 years is worth the pick.

Right. Thanks for stating the obvious.

Everyone knows there isn't a can't miss, Andrew Luck type QB in this draft.

That was my point in the first post. You are talking about fearing 2 guys for the next 10 YEARS who you don't think are good enough to draft. If you really believed a guy would haunt us for 10 years you'd at least lead off your mock draft with the guy.

Barrett,
1st. Go back and read the title of this thread. Taking a QB first in my mock would defeat the whole premise of what we're trying to do here. (in theory )
2nd. I never said I "feared, was scared, or haunted" by Manziel or Bridgewater, you did. I said "imagine if we had to play these 2 in our division". Probably should have added if they pan out. But anyhow, I was not implying it to sound as dire as you're trying to make it out to be.
I'll save that for next year when the top 3 QB's are alot more "scary".
