Not a terribly structured deal, but there was no reason for it. We were bidding against ourselves. Let him play out the deal and then resign him (or don't if he plays like last year). At worst he plays like he never has before and the deal is a few million bigger or you have to franchise him. Either way we signed an extension on an unseen player coming off a damaging injury when we were under no compulsion to extend.
