Factor this:
Ravens have a rookie QB in second NFL game. Ravens RB will be either gimpy (McGahee) or inexperienced (Rice). Ravens no longer have Jonathan Ogden. Texans have trouble generating a pass rush. Texans secondary has trouble in coverage. The answer: Blitz, blitz, blitz! Stack against the run, blitz the pass, force Flacco to beat us with his arm. Even if he burns us once or twice, we should be able to make some stops and force some turnovers. The Ravens should not run up a lot of points so big plays will determine the game. I think our chances improve if we sell out to the run and blitz with abandon. |

I agree only problem is Smith doesn't have a clue how to run the defense.

I agree, try something different, plain old cover 2 isn't working , that's for sure. The players might enjoy playing agressively as well. need to play faster.

I wholeheartedly agree... there is a reason defense is not a principle of war; we need to attack!

Whatever it is, we cant continue to be carved up in the passing game. Blitzing might make us vulnerable, but it might also force Flacid to make some mistakes. Who knows?
