Hey, Rockets pre-season about to begin Wednesday.
Royce White rides bus to training camp, he seems like a very good player so hope his anxiety is ok. Lots of young guys on almost all new roster, but seems preseason schedule is helpful to their learning to be a team.. Hope they do well. Oct. 10 Wed. Oklahoma City* 7:00 p.m. State Farm Arena Oct. 12 Fri. New Orleans 7:00 p.m. Toyota Center Oct. 14 Sun. Rockets tradeed with OKC to get James Hardin for Kevin Martin, plus Jeremy Lamb and two first round dradft picks in 2013.
I'm glad to get Hardin and finally move out KMart. Roster almost a complete changeover from last year. Rockets went 5-2 in preason but many expect they will be lucky to win 30 games this year with a very young roster. Team has to cut down to 15 by tomorrow, so likely 5 guys getting cut, traded, or moved to D league soon. Not sure how many games I will get to watch this year with comcast not yet making a deal with my suddenlink cable carrier. |

I like the Harden move if they can resign him. Supposedly they will offer him a max deal. So he should sign, unless he wants to win and refuses. Getting rid of KMart is addition by subtraction. Not thrilled with losing Lamb, but you have to give something to get something. Plus 2 first rounders, that maybe an issue going forward.
This team maybe better then we wanted it to be this season. So the Rockets are more relevant than the Astros in this town, but are a distant 2nd to the Texans.

The only problem is if the Rockets suck as badly as the Astros, they've just traded away some premium lottery picks that might be better in the long run than what they received in return. Although I think some of the picks they traded weren't their own but ones they acquired last summer to make a trade they never made.
I think Comcast sales have something to do with this. The Rockets (and Comcast) wanted desperately to get Dwight Howard in order to sell the new cable channel and practically traded or sold everyone of value from last year's team to make a run for him. When that didn't work out, they signed Lin to be the "face" of the team but he didn't really move the needle so adding "the old man" as Harden is known for his beard, not his age, will help the new network's Q rating. So what did the Astros do to help Comcast sell the new channel? Well they just signed a Chinese guy named Lin too - a guy who can't hit a lick but is supposed to be an outstanding centerfielder. I expect their next move will be to sign pitcher Rich Harden. ![]() |

One of the hope's with adding Harden is he is a foundation star and other stars would be willing to come here to play with him, so, when trades and free agency open up, let's see what happens.
I was a little surprised to see Shaun Livingston get cut, but it was tough to get to 15. The Rockets open regular season play at the Detroit Pistons on Wed., Oct. 31. I guess my expectations for record this year is improved, but need to see some results. Followed by @Atlanta, home for Portland and Denver. So, a fair start. Might take a while for these guys to feel like a team with so many young new players on the roster. Seems they have more height in front court than last year and likely more speed. Guards Jeremy Lin Toney Douglas Scott Machado James Harden Daequan Cook Carlos Delfino Forwards Chandler Parsons Patrick Patterson Marcus Morris Donatas Motiejunas Terrence Jones Royce White Centers Omer Asik Cole Aldrich Greg Smith Last edited by Nconroe; 10-29-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

Are there any players from last year on the roster? I did not follow them much the last few years.

Rockets got a nice road win 105-96 over Detroit tonight.
Harden had 37 points, fantastic start after signing his 5 year/ 80 mil deal. So far, that was an exciting games with lots of runs by both teams. |

Rockets are 2-2 playing at Grizzlies tonight.
Harden still leads league in scoring after games of 37, 45, 24, and 15 points. Asik is third in league with 14 rebounds per game. And wow, Lakers just fired their head coach after startiing 1-5. Can't be players fault. Last edited by Nconroe; 11-09-2012 at 04:04 PM. |

Anybody get to watch the Rockets, I don't have them on suddenlink yet.
Anyways, Rockets have like a 5 game win streak, I think 16-12, perhaps 6th place in West right now. Youngest NBA team. Currently highest scoring offense NBA team. 11-2 against East, 5-10 against West. O(Omar Asik) seems to be doing fairly well, per expectations. Hardin 4th leading scorer in the league averaging 26 pts per game. |

well, rockets made a trade, I happen to like it ok, maybe a good deal with potential of 5th overall pick this year Thomas Robinson.
Houston Rockets get Thomas Robinson, Francisco Garcia, Tyler Honeycutt and a second round pick from Sacramento. And got a another second round draft pick for Marcus Morris. Team beat Thunder 123-119 without the four guys leaving and none of new guys here so that seems ok. Then they should have plenty cap space if they want to lure in another top tier player free agent during summer. |

Probably everyone knows, but nice for the Rockets to be back in playoffs .
Might even see them on TV. They are a likeable exciting young team. McHale deserves lots of credit as a coach as well. |

They are a very fun team to watch when they are on. I expect they'll lose first round, but they shouldn't get swept. They are really a lot better than I expected this soon. Next year, the Rockets should be fighting for the homefield first round of the playoffs if they don't completely miss in FA.
