LMAO....

I think I've read just about everything under the sun the last couple of days. My whole routine is off.

Guess I'll have to do some work.....

In Houston, we get:

CBS early: Indianapolis @ Tennessee
FOX early: Washington @ Pittsburgh
FOX late: New York Giants @ Dallas (in fact, the entire nation gets this game due to the World Series)

I'm just gonna let my carpal tunnel heal up during the bye week..... be ready to go in two Sundays....

Here's a topic of dicusssion;

Since our kick coverage sucks so bad, and we at one point held down a roster spot for a one-trick pony in Holliday, how about we go out and find a strong-legged K who's sole purpose is to perform kick-offs and boot the ball out of the endzone and keeping the opposition from getting mucho return yards on us? That might be a better option than counting on Frank Bush, er...Maricano, to fix the problem.

Slow week, I know...

Too bad we don't have a half dozen Bramans to fix the problem. Or we could do like last year and get a weak legged kicker who covers kicks like a special teamer.

Safe to say this is the best week the Texans have had on special team all season.

I don't think the special teams have been all that terrible. Yes, Holliday has had some critical mistakes but he's gone now. Jones has been solid punting (with limited work), and Graham has been almost perfect in place-kicking - just not on kickoffs. We need to establish a return game and do a better job of blocking and tackling without drawing penalties. Most of the ST guys we have are young, cheap back-ups so they just need to be coached up better.

i am all for anything that can get things fixed. they are allowing way to many yards on punt and kickoff returns.

I have one suggestion for the Texans kick-off return unit: just take a knee if its kicked into the EZ: I saw a game the other day where that was obviously the teams strategy.
It's pretty clear that returning kick-offs for the Texans this year has been counterproductive as they often fail to get the ball to the 20, and furthermore the risk of fumbling a KO is obviously eliminated if the kick isn't returned.

Texans opened as 11 point favorites against the Bills this Sunday. Seems like quite a bit to me - I'd put it at about 9. So far, the Texans have gone 5-2 ATS (against the spread) so it seems to me, the oddsmakers are trying to make it tougher to pick the Texans....

hopefully with a little emphasis and extra practice, kick/punt coverage and returns will get a few yards better in each direction. can't get much worse.
