Default Alex Gibbs reportedly told Texans' OLinemen, "Cut block, or I'll cut you"

http://www.sports790.com/cc-common/podcast.html
Atleast that's what Chiefs and former Texans RT Eric Winston said on 790 this morning. I'm paraphrasing, but that's close to what I heard, so I'm throwing in the link to the Winston podcast this morning if you're interested ?
This conversation with one of the 790 guys was in the context of the marching orders that Saints players got from their DC Williams, and Winston was relating how some of the Texans lineman weren't thrilled with cut blocking (legal technique used in ZB but unpopular and dangerous), but were threatended by ZB guru Gibbs with unemployment if they didnt use that technique. In other words, NFL players sometimes find themselves between a rock and hard place to.

Why is this news? Wasn't it common knowledge that Gibbs demanded this?

IIRC Chester Pitts was one of the guys reluctant to cut block, and was never a fan of Gibbs. The guys here never appeared to buy into Gibbs system like they have with Dennison/Benton version of the zone blocking scheme.

So a coach asked players to do something completely legal, and then told them to take that coaching or they couldn't play for him?

Shocking. I also heard that Kubiak tells QBs to not throw it to guys in other jerseys, and that they will be cut if they don't listen and do it too often.

Cut block = block below the knee where the blocker's helmet is in front of the player being blocked = legal

Chop block = block below the knee where the blocker's helmet is to the side of or behind the player being blocked, or where the player being blocked is engaged with another offensive player = illegal

I don't find anything wrong with that... Cut block or get cut, straight to the point... Do your job or find another job elsewhere
