Seattle announced the move less than 24 hours before the deadline for teams to use the franchise tag and Lynch would have been owed more than $7 million for one season if Seattle used the tag on him. A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press that Lynch's contract is worth $31 million, including $18 million guaranteed. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because terms of the deal were not officially announced.

18 million guaranteed is probably less than Foster would settle for, but I think it might be closer to what the Texans have in mind for him while Arian probably has
Chris Johnson money ( 30 million guaranteed) in mind, which is too much IMO.

Considering Lynch just signed this deal, Arian is about the least greedy guy in the NFL to take $43.5M over 5 years, $20.75M guaranteed. I know it's all relative and he is now a rich man, but it is still a great deal for us. Perfectly timed too. 5 year deal for a 26 year old back. He either plays out the contract or is gone in year 5, but barring injury we paid for the prime of a guy with low miles. That is about as good as it gets for big RB contracts.

The way it SEEMS to be written, most of the money is paid out pretty quickly (30 mill first 3 years). That looks to me that we COULD let him go after year 3 with very little cap implication. At the end of year 3 he would have about 5 years of NFL wear and tear and we could have a better idea as to wether he will be able to play much after he turns 30.
