..........Yeah that same Jason Babin that we gave up 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and switched position with Tennessee in the 5th way back when. He had 8 sacks last time I looked. Now, would you say it was the Texans coaching, or lack of, that couldn't bring out the best in Babin? ......Or what?

I would say coaching is a big part. So is system. We tried to make him into a 3-4 OLB and he has less hip swivel and agility than any pass rusher I've seen. Tennessee lines him up at end and has him go as fast as possible off the edge to the QB. That is the one thing he can do well, and along with a high motor it has resulted in a great season for him.

I'm inclined to thnk it's more of a case of good coaching by the Titans than necessarily bad coaching by the Texans, especially since the Titans have a track record of that on the D-line and Babin didn't do much with the Seahawks, Chiefs, or Eagles after leaving Houston.

Like Warren says, Babin didn't do shit anywhere else so either the Titans have a genius DL coach or the light finally went on for the guy due to experience and scheme.

Don't look now but he's sitting at 10 sacks and might be on his way to Honolulu
after the season is over. I've watched him play several games this year and he's very desruptive, constantly putting pressure on the QB when not sacking him. I never saw Babin play in college, but have a feeling they're letting him play exactly as he did there. He lines up very wide and just crashs into the backfield on every play. I wish we had him this year, if just for passing downs. We got nodbody else on our roster that's putting the kind of pressure on the QB that Babin is for the Titans. |

It seems to always work when you identify what a guy can do, and then you let him to do it.
Identifying what you want and then asking a guy to do it tends to work out less. |

was drafted to fill the same role in Houston all be it in the 4-3 rather than the 3-4 where Jayson Babin was originally drafted. Bardwin also came from an underwatched program and his main responsibility is to rush the passer. He was making real progress until he got injured this year. I think he will be a good player next year if healthy. |
