The poll should have included Zach Wiegert as a guard instead of as a tackle. He was possibly the best OL on the team for a period of time and played at RG when Todd Wade was signed.
And not that I would have voted for him, but I don't recall seeing Will Demps on the list. Considering the lack of options at safety, I thought he would have at least made the list ahead of a few of those other suspects. |

I just must be in the minority, but I really liked Marlon McCree.

I liked him too, as you know. He left the team without an offer and went to SD and continued to make an impact. Nice work, Casserly.
No playoff appearances? The All Decade team consists of the players listed below: |

McRee was not very good with Houston though. Part of that was he didn't get a ton of playing time here and part was he didn't really do anything with what he got. So I'd lay his departure more at the feet of the coaching staff then anyone else. They had him and got nothing out of him. SD took him and got something out of him for a while.

I simply remember watching him play and realizing that he was better than anyone the Texans had at the time. The team obviously thought otherwise. |

He played part time and was OK. That OK was better then Matt Stevens and most of the prior Texans safeties he could be compared to, but he was an NFL journeyman.
In his last season in Houston he had 29 tackles, 1 INT, and 3 passes defensed in 16 games. Assuming you are correct and he had substantial playing time, he did so without accomplishing much. When a GM lets that kind of player go, I can't blame him. When the same guy goes to Carolina the next season and triples his production, and then puts in 2 good years in SD, I question the coaching staff in Houston who got little out of him in two years. |
