Default Rookie Wage Scale for players drafted in April, 2010 ?

Liz Mullen of SportsBusiness Journal reports that the league has proposed the implementation of a rookie wage scale for the April 2010 draft. She also reports that the NFLPA has responded with a proposal that would change the structure of the rookie deals beginning in 2010, too.

Might end up being a bunch of guys who regret they waited to come out in 2010 if they could have left school in 2009 ?

It would be nice if the NFL owners and players could work this out in 2010.

Seems the League and players response are not that far apart and both sides want this fixed and perhaps could do it outside the long term NFLPA discussion.

There are too many draft busts - the current system almost makes sure a team which is bad will stay there by giving them large contracts on high draft picks which may never pan out for them.

Also, if they can help the older retired players as a side benefit with the theoretically saved money, excellent.
