Default Will Other Texans Follow Mike Shanahan to the Redskins?

So we already know OC Kyle Shanahan is gone, but what about the rest of South Denver?

A report in the National Football Post speculates OL guru Alex Gibbs might follow, though he seems more likely to retire to me I would think.

Given several of the coaches and players here have connections to the old Shanahan Broncos, makes you wonder who else is might be headed to East Denver.

I've wondered if they'd find value in one of our back-up QB's. If they liked Grossman that'd obviously net us nothing, but if they liked Orlovsky we could leverage something out of it.

It should be interesting to see the dynamic between the two teams given that Shanahan will have to rebuild Washington in our image for the most part.

It was never very clear if Gibbs came back for Kubiak or for Shanahan. I think it was a bit of both. I wouldnt be suprised to see Gibbs leave to Washington, retire, or stay another year.

Some of the assistant coaches may get a sniff, but Shanahan Sr will most likely bring in his guys for position coaching rather than let Kyle do the hiring.

As for the rest of the roster it is possible some of our off FA's get a sniff up there as the systems will be almsot the same, but I dont see father or son enticing high profile players away from their buddy Kubiak with ludacris contracts.

IIRC Alex Gibbs had a running feud with Mike Shanahan, is this over now? And if so then the let him go. I think it's time to upgrade the OL into the new decade.

I have made my disappointment known about our O-Line for a few years. Not being able to convert 3rd and 2 just rubs me wrong. So I decided to see who does it the best in the NFL (rush Power). The BEST is the Baltimore Ravens who have the OL coach of John Matsko and his Assistant Andy Moeller. I wouldn't mind bringing Moeller here if Gibbs retires or leaves.

I found it interesting that the Saints were 2nd in the league.

I have been thinking the same thing as you two have. Whether or not Gibbs leaves or retires, we should consider the next step up for the OL. haven't really considered who should replace him, but definitely someone who will give the running game a boost while at the same time maintainting the excellent pass blocking.

How about the eagles OL coach? He was orginally brought to the NFL by Ray Rhodes?

I like the zone blocking system they use.

I'm not sure we would be able to get an OL coach who already has the title, unless he were fired. That's why I was looking at "understudy" type coaches or assistant OL coaches. Castillo has been an Eagle for 15 years.

No I am asking about making him a OC. Some solid OC/HC where former OL guys.

Oh, I get it. Since we were discussing Alex Gibbs just previous, I thought you were suggesting Castillo as his replacement. The Eagles run a WCO, so he should be familiar with the terminology. I'd be interested in how many running plays he would call vs. how many passing plays. There is always a lot made out of how pass happy the Eagles are and I'm not sure if that is because of the HC or the OC.

Based upon the last two seasons, the Texans appear to be better suited to pass. Now, is that because of our ZBS or because of the players we have on the OL?

I was really hoping after a winning season we could call the skins 'Texans East'? Too much? Too far? Oh well.

I suppose we could send them Dressen and Chris Brown along with Kyle, to even up Karma for the Calhoun/Putzier/Moats personnel we got. Heck let's trade Myers back for a 5th (inflation).

I'd be hesitant to send Joel anywhere.
