Default Bob McNair Involved in Secret Labor Talks?

Quote:
HOUSTON (AP)—Houston Texans owner Bob McNair is denying allegations that he participated in secret meetings to discuss NFL labor talks.

The allegations were in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed against the NFL Players Association last week by union employee Mary Moran.

She says she was a confidential informant for the Labor Department and gave investigators evidence that former NFLPA president Troy Vincent(notes) and other union members met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and McNair. The meetings were allegedly to provide the league access to confidential union information.

In a statement issued through a Texans spokesman, McNair says the allegations are “without merit” and “false.”

This could make the next round of CBA talks even more interesting. I could see it as having two possible effects. One, the players get pissed that the league and there reps were doing some under the table stuff and decide to play hard ball. The other option is that this causes a split in the ranks of the union membership and allows the owners to take a little something back in negotiations.

I guess the most likely outcome is this kind of stuff goes on all the time so nobody really cares and it's one of those story that just eventually fades away.

Kris Brown and Mark Bruener get a little on themselves too.
Quote:
Moran charges that Brown, the Texans’ alternative player representative to the union, and Bruener, a member of the NFLPA executive committee, joined with other union members in disclosing confidential union information in the secret meeting with Goodell and McNair.

“That’s false and outrageous,” McNair said Wednesday. “There was no secret meeting. I talk to my players and players that used to play for us all the time. There’s absolutely no truth to what she’s suggesting.”
