Default Gil Brandt on the Texans

Gil Brandt Part 1

Gil Brandt Part 2

I am sure everyone has seen this, and if you havent your welcome. I like Brandt, he is one of the few national media guys that actually looks at more than just the ESPN highlight tapes of the Texans.

1) He has predicted the Texans to win the AFC South

Arguably the hardest division in football over the last two years, although this could be more from the potential fallout of the other 3 teams. If this prediction comes true, I could be tempted to become a believer in Brandtism..

2) He says Johnson is the best reciever in football

We all knew that..

3) Him, like most, thinks that DoubleS will do even better this year.

1300+ rushing yards-- ill take it, add in another 400ish recieving and SS could end up over 2k yards from scrimage this year.

4) He doesnt directly endorse Mario for Def player of the year, but I do!

I cant find the article on the Chron, and dont remeber if it was an article or video from McClain, but John quoted Brandt as pointing out Quinn as having a huge impact.

So if you have the best WR, Def Player, RB, and best record in the toughest division does that make us the best team in the NFL? <Insert smiley with rose colored glasses, since we only have the blind guy smiley>

Yeah, I believe that was in McClain's blog... Something about Brandt saying Glover Quin was going to surprise a lot of people... Brandt thought *very* highly of him....

Third paragraph of the Brandt story from Texans.com, Part 1 which Kravix included covered GQ. Plus Brandt and Carruchi were on Sirius NFL network for four hours Sunday, separate from interview but said the same thing.

Gil Brandt: ...... I like (Glover) Quin, the corner, a lot. I think that he's a very, very good pick for them. .....

Those guys were very impressed with what they saw and interviews of Texans they did which included interviews and time with Kubiak, Smith, and Bob McNair. Hopefully Gil Brandt's prediction is correct.

McClains video, on the Chron, "Training Camp Report: Day 5" he says "who Gil Brandt, the yoda of the NFL, says will be one of the biggest suprises in the league"

The articles I posted were from the horses mouth, and McClain's video is a secondhand account of it. Two different conversations though.

Quin is already a sensation at camp, so Brandt putting his stamp on it is just icing.

Just to temper Brandts endorsement a tad here, FYI he picked the Jags to win the AFC South division last year.

So did a lot of people until the injuries decimated the OL.

Don't look now but injuries are starting to mount up on us.

Injuries and schedule are probably the two biggest record deciders in most cases. Naturally talent plays in to it, but all things considered injuries and schedule are the deciders.
