Bad time for him to get injured with the Cody signing, Deljuan coming on strong, and Okam looking to make a big push. I know 99.9% of Texans would just assume see him gone, but I am interested to see if his play improves if Bush system proves to be a better fit for TJ. He said this has been bothering him for the last couple of years...I wonder why it took so long for them to find it.

I never disliked him, I just wanted him replaced with someone better. I WILL say one thing in his favor, though. He seemed to be our only DL who consistently got his arms up in the air in passing situations. I really can't understand why the rest of the DL don't learn to do that. |

Stick a fork in him, he is done. this could have been taken care of earlier this summer. He delayed, and it is probably going to cost him his job. He was already not in the good graces of Kubiak, this can/will do him in.

To be fair, it sounds like, from his quote, that he didn't know the hernia was the root cause of his problems until his visit to the specialist in St. Louis. If that visit was recently, then this probably wasn't something that could have been found before OTAs/minicamps this year.

It sounds to me like they just found the problem. The fact that he's had an undetected injury the last couple of years might buy him a little time too.

He is 2 weeks away from being able to have any activity. Then he will have to work himself back into shape. I agree he will be put on the PUP, and be given the time to regain his strength and flexibility.
As for hernia, didn't another player have trouble with this and never recovered from the surgery well enough to play football?

Heck, he had the surgery 3 weeks ago, so he may be able to start out with light practices next week when training camp opens. If the hernia, and they can be very painful, was the undiagnosed issue for quite a while, this may be the new lease on productivity TJ needed.

According to CND (an MD) he will likely not be ready for 6-8 weeks since he is a lineman and that is a strain area for them. Can be as little as 3-4 weeks for normal folks to get back in the everyday swim of things.

I'm surprised that the Chron hasn't run a story on it. Certainly a 'presumed' starting DT with late off-season surgery deserves a column.
