INDY - With Polian doing the smart drafting, Old Man Manning doing the QB chores, and Dungy's stingy defense, I think we will break even home and home. 1-1.
JAX - On paper they improved, but they still didn't address the WR position for Garrard. DelRio will have the defense ready to go, but I think we stack up a lot better now. 1-1, with maybe a surprise if we get on a roll and the injury bug doesn't rear it's ugly head again. TEN - Coach Fisher is a fox. He will have the Tacks ready even if Bud Adams lets all of the veterans go. Vince still has to show he is not just a runnin' QB. The defense with VanDenbosh will be tough, as usual, but if we are on a roll we could go 2-0 here. So what do you think? |

Wow nobody is playing, so I guess my early view is this...
Indy - until Peyton retires or becomes ineffective this is still the cream. 0-2 Jax - I agree they still have no WRs, but they have a great running attach 1-1 Ten - Lets see, they have no WRs, they changed OCs to an even more traditional WCO guy. They lost a couple of DEs. But they still have Fisher and that magician. 1-1 I'm not ready to give them a .500 record in the division until they prove they can do it. And our schedule is brutal. BRUTAL. And BTW I usually do not drink the tea until training camp starts. |

i think indy is going to start slipping soon but manning will always be the gold standard of qb wizardry especially with the kind of targets he has. 2 years ago we beat them once, last year we should have won but gave them and their "stingy" D a run for it's money so this year i think we will break even with them again. 1-1
jacksonville is the prototype of the ball control strategy play. run and D. they're good at it too but garard will probably show signs of being a human not a ball-flinging robot. if we beat them it will be because our D kicked it up a notch. 0-2 tennehuuuuuuck will probably be respectable but i doubt they continue winning against all reason. VY is like....less than one dimensional. their D is good but unlike jacksonville they don't have anything going on offense. 2-0

Well PK, if you can speculate about the 2009 Draft, it is at least as legitimate to speculate on the W-L within our division. I find that to be the bellwether for this coming season. How we do in division will go a long way to determine IF we finally make the playoffs.

Frank Okam could be the reason we are better on run defense this year. That is why I intend to watch this rook very carefully.

BTW for us to make the playoff, which I hope we do, the Titans have to be leapfrogged. They have to become the bottom of the division. And they did not do a lot to improve, and VY has to prove he can be a a true NFL QB. I can see us getting ahead of them, I just will not count out Fisher in June. |

Nor will I. He is a coach you have to respect for puttin' up with such an owner for as long as he has.
You'er right, we do have to leapfrog the Titans........ and the Jags..........., and eventually the Colts! This year would be as good as any, to start the climb, wouldn't you agree? |

But again I will wait for late July to drink the tea, right now I am just smelling it and it smells good. So it should be another exciting year. |

well i'm a tea drinkin' mofo! i say we do what the lowly patriots couldn't and run the whole season!!!
nah, but i don't think 3 teams are going to the playoffs from one conference again so we'll have to be better than the colts or the jags too. and if 3 go from AFCsouth again we still need to beat the colts and jags.

Oh I'm not drinkin' the tea. Not yet anyway. However it does seem to taste a little sweeter than in the past. No, before I make any rash statements, I looked back at last year and said to myself, we've finally got a G.M. who knows how to evaluate and draft talent. This year I found out that same G.M. was not afraid to roll the dice to improve the team (trading down and picking up 2 extra picks, and still getting his man, or what was left of the men he was aiming at, all along). We have also added a well respected offensive line guru in coach Gibbs, and a well respected secondary coach in coach Rhoades. We have stockpiled some quality depth along the way.
What was it Winston Churchill said during WWII? .......oh yeah, he said, "This may not be the beginning of the end, but it is the end of the beginning". That pretty much says it all. We have gone through the rough times, taken some shellakings, but now we are ready to go to war! |
