Default Official 2009 NFL Draft Round 3 Thread

Time to look at ahead to the third round.

Is it time for a RB? Someone in the secondary?

I would think one of those two...unless there in love with a RB I would guess secondary help

Man, I hope it's Shonn Greene (big, blocker, catch it out of the backfield).

On a side note, I tied for #38 overall on NFL.com's Predict the Pick. Ironically, I did not get the Texans pick correct, I had Philly trading up for Moreno and us taking Matthews later. I tell you, Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, Rick Gosselin ain't got nothing on Lance Zeirlein. I find him to be the best source for how the draft will fall over the past couple of years.

Round 3:
Jarron Gilbert DT/E
Jarrod Cook TE
Shonn Greene RB
Shawn Nelson TE
Alex Magee DT
Jauquin Iglesius WR
Michael Johnson DE
Clint Ingram TE
Andre Brown RB
Lawrence Sidbury DE
Bradlee Fletcher CB
Mike Wallace WR
Kraig Urbik G
James Casey TE
Antoine Caldwell C
Rashad Johnson FS
Chip Vaughn S

We have some good options.

I agree that we have a number of good options. However, after taking Barwin and Cushing, I think Sidbury and MJohnson are off the table. I'm really hoping we are somehow able to get Caldwell or Luigs with our 4th round pick.

Do you think Urbik is athletic enough to play in our ZBS? I know the man is about 330 lbs.

To be honest, there's no one that has me terribly jazzed up but part of that's probably that I was a bit too busy this year to pay that much attention to prospects. Guys that I might be interested in on Day 2 would include:

RB Andre Brown
C Antoine Caldwell
S Chip Vaughn
FS Rashad Johnson
RB Rashad Jennings
DT Alex Magee
CB Coy Francies
TE Shawn Nelson
TE Chase Coffman
TE Jared Cook
WLB Kaluka Maiava
RB Shonn Greene
QB Rhett Bomar
C Jonathan Luigs
WR Derrick Williams
DT Terrance Knighton

*edit* Almost forgot RB Ian Johnson

Will the Lions select an OT like Jamon Merideth or a LB like Marcus Freeman?

What the heck, let's see if the Texans can continue the Drayton Mclain "all-whitey" draft.

Shonn Greene or Chip Vaughn would be great picks if one of them made it to 77.

Gonna be a fun day... this is where winning seasons can be made.

Well, I don't really think that's the goal here. However, my next top "whiteys" are....

LB Scott McKillop Pittsburgh
QB Stephen McGee Texas A&M
OC A.Q. Shipley Penn St
TE John Phillips Virginia
QB John Parker Wilson Alabama
OT Lydon Murtha Nebraska

So, I'd expect that we'll be getting a player with a better tan here in the 3rd.

I know it's not the goal. I was just joking. Guess I should have put a smiley on the end of my post.
