Someone pointed out that it was telling the Patriots and Ravens passed on the opportunity to select Kyle Wilson, New England preferring McCourty and Baltimore trading out. Those two teams seem to know what they are doing when it comes to the draft and I guess it has to do with Kyle not being as physical as the other two. Also some have said Wilson has more upside, but I can't see that as Jackson is an underclassman (Wilson a Senior) and Saban was reportedly upset he chose to leave believing he needed more seasoning to get even better and become a first rounder.

I don't mind the Jackson pick, but with all the trading going on all around #20 and Jackson's perceived ranking IMO we could have traded around a bit and promoted a later round pick and still come out with K. Jackson if he was who we wanted. People were paying pretty well for picks later than ours.
It seems over the last few years the Texan management is not very good and A. trading picks or B. amassing additional picks. I am not sure the reason. Other teams seem to perpetually have additional picks coming from trades while we just let players go to find their own place to play. |

I think by not having two starting CBs going into this draft put them in a position of pressure. I am hopeful that after this draft, the Texans won't have a glowing need. |

I am willing to buy that. I also believe our management doesn't have the NFL connections that NE, Miami and Dallas has also.

I love this pick!
KJ was the most NFL ready CB available at 20. Jackson defended some of the best WR's in college football on a consistent basis playing in the SEC. Also, Alabama ranked i#1 in the nation on pass defense last year, What's not to like? They won the national title last year, what more does one have to accomplish? Not to mention, Jackson had to lineup against Julio Jones everyday in practice under the scrutiny of Saban Nick, he's a plug and play type player, IMO. Wilson and McCourty , simply put, weren't exposed to the level of competition that Jackson was during his three years at Alabama... Great Job Gary and Rick. Now, lets get Lamar Houston in the 2nd, J. Dwyer in the 3rd, and M. Lewis in the 4th

I must admit I was rather surprised when KJ was called with WIlson and McCourty still there. But one thing I have learned with this administration is not to second guess them.
