QB John Beck agrees to terms with Texans -- Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26)
Not a bad option for QB3 or a camp body. Knows system, and can plug right in. If they run with 3 QBs, Case is likely headed for the PS.

Keenum ought to be on the practice squad. The real question is who is #2 - Beck or Yates? I'd rather see Yates but I would be okay with a camp battle.

There is no way they are bringing Beck in to be more than a camp arm. I loved him coming out of college, but he has shown that he cannot be any thing more than a camp arm.

From the Chronic: http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans...rterback-beck/ The Texans are no longer in the market for a veteran quarterback after agreeing to terms on a one-year contract with John Beck on Wednesday. Coach Gary Kubiak said this week he wanted to sign a fourth quarterback, preferably a veteran. Beck, who turns 31 in August, enters his sixth season in the NFL. He should have a smooth transition into the Texans’ system because he spent the last two years playing at Washington. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan use the same system as the Texans. Beck, who gets the minimum of $700,000, will compete with rookie Case Keenum for the third-string job behind starter Matt Schaub and backup T.J. Yates.

They needed a camp arm becasue Schaub isn't going to be thrown in 100% coming off his foot injury from last season. I have to imagine the team will keep Schaub/Yates on the active roster and Keenum on the PS once Sept rolls around. Not sure they'll want to use an extra spot for QB on Beck, especially since there are so many young WRs they might not want to expose to waivers to get onto the PS.

The only plus I see for Beck is he is familiar with the offense and can be an arm during OTAs, mini-camp and training camp. I do not anticipate him making the final roster unless they have concerns about Schaub going into the regular season.
