Default [Chron.com] Amobi Okoye, David Anderson given permission to seek trades.

Okoye is expected, but the logjam at WR is tough on Anderson. Not sure I'd prefer losing him over say the far more expensive Kevin Walter.

My guess is that KW is going to be one of the restructures for whatever CB we end up bringing in.

Walter does everything Anderson does well (play the slot and not drop anything). Anderson does not do everything Walter does well (block better than any WR in the league, play outside, stretch the field enough across from AJ, size).

No doubt DA's a goner and will likely be cut by the weekend. No one is going to trade for him.

It still doesn't change the fact that Walter is a big, slow, white guy who disappears at times, especially in the red zone. I think if Dickerson pans out at WR, Walter will be gone. Even so the FA signing of Toliver may well bode the end of Anderson, and eventually Walter as Texans.

Why couldn't we have been the ones to offer 2 late round picks to Bengals for Chad? Two late rd picks and a restructured deal and BAM it's done.

I really don't get the hate for Walter. If he wasn't a white guy playing a primarily black position I think he'd be viewed differently.

Walter is the 3rd or 4th option on the team behind AJ and Foster (and a healthy OD). Any #2 WR they get is going to be the 3rd or 4th option. Any #2 they get will have inconsistent opportunities and targets, but will be expected to have consistent effort and blocking in a top running game. Then catch enough balls to make teams pay for rolling coverage to Andre.

Look at the receiving stats here.
http://wp.advancednflstats.com/playe...=WR&season=reg

Success Rate #4 of all WRs.
Catch Rate #19.
Yards per Target and Deep Ball rate in the middle of the pack.

The only area he is low for a #2 is in number of times targeted.

So basically Walter gives you solid production, enough of a downfield threat, and great effort and blocking despite not getting many balls thrown his way. And we all want to find a way to replace him? (and with Dickerson, a guy who has zero career catches)

LZ said on his show this morning that there is a rumor going around that the Texans are looking at trading Okoye to the Raiders for Shane Lechler......

Rumors are rumors, so take that for what it is....

Okoye is in the last year of his deal @ $2.95MM
Lechler has 2 yrs. left - '11 @ $3.2MM, '12 @ $3.8MM

Personally, I don't see how this would be possible, especially with the contracts that they are going to have to figure out, but we shall see.

Edit:
Now he tweeted it:
@LanceZierlein: Just got a text from someone close to Shane Lechler who says he is hearing the Texans could potentially look to deal Okoye for Lechler.

You said it yourself, he is a #3 receiver, playing a #2 receiver position. That's all the justification they need. Your RB should not be your #2 read. ..And by the way, I don't hate Walter, I just don't think he is doing the job he is being paid for.

I tend to think if Dorin Dickerson shows any promise, that Walter may be in our rearview window by the start of the season.

Amobi Okoye, David Anderson, and Dan Orlovski have been released.... interesting to see who picks up Okoye after he clears waivers.

well, Anderson, Okeye, and Orlasky officially released by Texans, likely they are all finding a new team, so I guess call these cap casualties and trying to get better.

I guess top 51 need to be under cap limit by this coming Wednesday, Aug 4, or something like that.
