Okay, I jokingly made the call on TE (and much to my obvious disappointment now). So here goes... My predictions for the 5th, 6th and 7th are:
5th - WR - Riley Cooper - We take our obligatory white-boy WR. 6th - QB - Plug in name here. He'll ride the PS for 1 or 2 years and be out of the league shortly thereafter. 7th - K - Brent Bowden - This actually makes more sense than their picks from RDs 3 and 4. |
So, does anybody believe that Jonathan Dwyer and Anthony Dixon were overrated by draft gurus and mock drafts?

Beats me. I don't see need or value in either of these choices. As usual, we ignore the safety position.

We have the 13th pick in this round and Kam Chancellor just went to Seattle.
The 5th round is when I thought about taking Marshall Newhouse to play OG eventually. Cam Thomas is really a good value here. I wouldn't be dissapointed if we took FS Robert Johnson here, because I want a BallHawk. That kid from Michigan Donovan Warren is a maybe? Would they like Myron Rolle? Eric Olsen is strong and could maybe be better than Studdard at some point. Meanwhile the Eagles are loading up on pass-rushers. |
Who knows what they want? I'm starting to think they don't even know what they want. Quinn was a good pick, but has Smith made any other 2nd-Day picks that have panned out or even shown real promise? I have to say, I can't remember a 2nd-Day draft under Smith that hasn't left me baffled. Oh well...
|
Brice McCain as a nickel/dime corner I guess. Barber has played some, but yeah I get your point.

F. Bennett D. Barber B. McCain James Casey all those have showed promise, at least. |

At this point, I think I'm going to reach for MY FS Robert Johnson, because there isn't another one in the draft that I want.
|
OK... Diles and Quinn - and I'll give Casey a pass for another year. While some of the others have contributed, most have been benched and replaced at some point. They've found some role players and depth - which is OK, but I'd like to see a little higher percentage of 'hits' (or at least picks that make sense :p) over 3~4 drafts.

Well one thing is for sure... We should have hella ST coverage this year. I guess if Jackson and Tate play a big role, and we get some decent production out of Mitchell, it will all be good.
|
CB Sherrick McManis
Northwestern, 3-yr starter |
Sherrick McManis over Donovan Warren (too slow) and AJ Jefferson (too raw). I just wish that we would have waited and gotten Crezdon Butler.

On a side note, McFadden and P. Cox were just selected, narrowing down our options for a late round DB. |
Cam Thomas finally drafted. Not bad value.

Jerry Jones is on NFL Net right now. Dang, that's odd, he acts sober and I don't think he's in a bar. I mean, quarter 'till noon, that's not too early for ole Jer to hit the beer-joints is it ?
|
There goes Skelton to Arizona.
|
fwiw, on last three picks remaining, I guess OL, QB, FB , I'm pretty good with draft so far.
|
Dang, the Eagles just drafted my Kevin Walter replacement.
|
FS Robert Johnson selected by the Titans after taking my CB Alterraun Verner. Steelers select CB Crezdon Butler (I had rated higher than McManis) :(
OG Marshall Newhouse selected by the Packers at #169. |
Ok, we have the 18th and 28th picks and I have no idea what we are doing or what we are looking at. These are the guys I'm keeping an eye on.
RB James Starks 6' 2" 218 4.50 Buffalo LB Dekoda Watson 6'3" 226 4.55 Florida St LB Jamar Chaney 6'1" 240 4.51 Mississippi St OC Eric Olsen 6'4" 306 5.26 Notre Dame S Myron Rolle 6' 2" 211 4.70 Florida St CB AJ Jefferson 6'0" 193 4.49 Fresno St. WR Scott Long 6'2" 216 4.46 Louisville RB Deji Karim 5'9" 209 4.40 S. Illinois LB Simoni Lawrence 6'1" 232 4.59 Minnesota OG Shelley Smith 6'3" 300 5.03 Colorado State |
Niners take Dixon. They are going to run over some people.
|
The Texans draft train has derailed.
|
The Browns take WR Carlton Mitchell, now that was a value pick. Hmmm, if Jamar Chaney is still there at 187, I'd be leaning towards him for MY pick. Since the Texans already have Darryl Sharpton, they should probably take Eric Olsen.
The Browns have Jay Cutler and they take "My QB" Dan LeFevour. Nevermind - The Broncos take Eric Olsen --RB Sleeper Favorite Deji Karim goes to the hated Jags-- At pick #187 I am selecting LB Jamar Chaney |
Here comes the Colorado State connection again, Shelley Smith G.

Hey wouldn't be a Kubiak Draft without atleast one CSU Ram.
I dunno, does he draft his own kid with one of our remaining picks, we do need help at safety you know. |
Dwyer lands in Pittsburgh, in the 6th.
|
Roy you and I finally got one of our guys. Smith from CSU.
|
Lonyae Miller at 197?
|
Shelley Smith looks like good value here, 6'4", 300 lbs, athletic, and another team captain.

He is athletic and from Colorado. It was a ringer. I preferred Lauvao, but Smith had a better 10-yard split. I'm seeing a trend.
